The Raiders selected Delmar Glaze with the 77th overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft and Glaze immediately made waves taking the starting RT position where he started all 17 games and in 998 snaps allowed 3 sacks and 51 pressures along with 4.1 ypc as a lead blocker (which was among the highest for the OL in 2024). Glaze had his issues with a large pressure rate and the tendency to struggle at times with twitchy quick footed pass rushers that were able to bend the edge against him and get into the backfield to create pressure on the quarterback though Glaze did a good job with his re-correction and preventing pass rushers from getting to the QB before Minshew or O’Connell or Ridder could get an attempt off. In 2025, Glaze has seen a small struggle at times and the shift to a new scheme has impacted his run blocking at times as well.
A solid athlete, Glaze logged a 5.54 RAS (relative athletic score) before the 2024 NFL draft notably taking knocks for his low vertical jump, height, 3-cone, and average 40 yard dash. However, Glaze did see good marks in his bench (29) and 10 split (1.77) which made him an interesting prospect along with his 35 inch arms which translate well to the NFL. This season through 9 games, Glaze has allowed 5 sacks and 22 pressures for the same pressure rate as he had in 2024 but the sacks have seen an uptick. In addition, Glaze’s run block win rate has fell nearly 8% while he’s also averaging 4.3 ypc as a lead blocker which could be attributed to the change at runningback between Zamir White and Alexander Mattison to Ashton Jeanty. Prior to the draft, a key note in majority of Glaze’s draft profiles was his potential transition to guard which would make sense due to his limited foot speed and average bend at the tackle position which can lead to struggles vs twitchy pass rush opponents off the edge. Glaze’s size and strength would translate in the run game, an area of success for him since his time at Maryland. While Glaze has never taken a snap at guard in his college or NFL career, the move could be beneficial for both him and the Raiders. Glaze has experience working on the left side having logged 1151 snaps at LT in college (1147 at RT) though he’s solely played all 1500 snaps at RT in the NFL but has worked at left tackle during training camp to cross train. The key note is Glaze having an understanding of the footwork required to transition from the right side to the left side if a move to guard does occur.
The Raiders are likely to let Dylan Parham walk in free agency which would open a hole at left guard that could be filled by DJ Glaze if the Raiders intend to go that route. Additionally, a hole at right guard could open if the team shifts Jackson Powers-Johnson to center after this season at guard. Jordan Meredith has been average at center but was a standout guard during his time there and could see his role transition back to the position he’s played every year but this season. In addition to Powers-Johnson and Meredith is 2025 3rd rounder Caleb Rogers who has yet to see the field (maybe he has vs the Cowboys when you read this) which could be another competition mark for Glaze. Glaze has been a solid starting right tackle for the Raiders but the average athletic profile and relatively slightly above average play has caused for a damper at times and though he’s had his ups there’s been a collection of negatives as well. The Raiders also drafted Charles Grant in the 3rd round of the 2025 draft and the former William & Mary standout is pushing to be the Raiders RT going forward after this season if he can continue his development.
Glaze will have the opportunity to finish the 2025 season at right tackle and with Grant pushing to eventually make an impact, largely in part to his elite athletic traits, there’s a world where Glaze may be competing for his spot in 2026 or looking to transition to the interior. Glaze’s strength profile, initial quickness as a run blocker, and IQ would work well in the run game on the interior and at 6’4/330 he does have the size for an interior lineman. There’s a world also where Grant isn’t ready for 2026 and the Raiders retain Glaze at RT, though long story short he’s been successful enough to where the Raiders likely have to find a way for Glaze to be on the field either at guard or sticking at right tackle going forward. At just 23 years old, Glaze has shown good film consistently enough to warrant continued play time and the opportunity to be a starter at some position on the offensive line and it could be on the interior going forward.
