The Miami Dolphins have benefited from the solid play of cornerback JuJu Brents over the past couple of games — however, due to a foot injury suffered against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, the third-year player will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, according to reports.
Brents was claimed this offseason after the Indianapolis Colts released their former second-round pick during final cut downs. After Rasul Douglas went down with injury, Brents stepped into Miami’s starting lineup and used his 6’2” frame to bully opposing wide receivers.
Douglas is expected to return to action in week thirteen following the Dolphins’ bye week, yet Brents’ absence will still be felt by the club. Miami’s defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver, had high praise for the young player following his first start for the Dolphins.
“He is a guy that regardless of whether he’s active, inactive; his approach to work has been the same. He’s been consistent. He’s just tried to go out there and be the best version of himself every week. It’s a credit to his resilience and resolve and it was awesome to see him see all that hard work pay off a week ago so thrilled about the kid.”
The Dolphins still have one year of control to see if Brents fits in the team’s future plans. His play in 2026 will determine if he sticks in Miami or if he’ll being suiting up elsewhere after the conclusion of his rookie contract.
