Fantasy football waiver wire pickups: NFL Week 11
By
- Blake Corum reaches a rotation by drive: The Los Angeles Rams changed their strategy at running back after their bye week, and Corum recorded a season-high snap rate.
- Tyler Allgeier is an acceptable short-term option: Allgeier scored twice in Week 10 and has three upcoming matchups where he could see double-digit touches.

QUARTERBACKS
Joe Flacco, Cincinnati Bengals (Rostered in 33.3% of leagues on ESPN)
- League Size: 10
- Time Frame: Week 11, Short Term, Long Term
The top quarterback performers off the waiver wire this week were Davis Mills and Mac Jones, both of whom might not even be starters next week. The next two quarterbacks were Dillon Gabriel and Jacoby Brissett, who both scored two touchdowns but completed roughly half of their passes for less than 6.0 yards per attempt. It’s best to pick up quarterbacks off the waiver wire for what they could do over the rest of the season rather than what happened in Week 10.
Flacco completed 31 of 47 passes for 470 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in the Bengals’ shoot-out loss in Week 9. He has averaged 25.5 fantasy points per game since becoming the team’s starter in Week 6. Flacco is still available in leagues because there was some concern about him not playing in Week 9 due to injury and because the Bengals had their bye in Week 10.
In Week 11, the Bengals face the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Three of their following five games are against opponents that rank in the bottom 10 of the league in preventing fantasy points to quarterbacks. There are two rough matchups in there, and there is a chance Joe Burrow is back by the fantasy championship round. However, Flacco should be viable for your fantasy starting lineup for four of the next six weeks of the fantasy football season.
- League Size: 10
- Time Frame: Long Term
McCarthy had a rough Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens. He completed 20 of 42 passes for 248 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. While he threw several uncatchable passes, he also showed what he could do in the run game, turning five carries into 48 yards. This put his fantasy production right in the middle of all quarterbacks this week.
The Vikings play the Chicago Bears next week, so McCarthy is a viable option off the waiver wire, but there are potentially better one-week options. He follows that up with two rough matchups against the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks, where he’s probably best left on fantasy benches. However, he ends the fantasy season with the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Detroit Lions. The three NFC East teams all rank in the bottom four in preventing fantasy points to quarterbacks. McCarthy put together 19.9 fantasy points against the Lions in Week 9 in his first game back from injury.
Ideally, he will continue to improve over these next few weeks, making him a potential league-winner during the fantasy playoffs.
