Fire and Ice: Top starts, sits and sleepers in fantasy football for Week 10

This fantasy football start-sit article aims to identify sleepers and the best and worst performers of the week.

  • Start Jaxson Dart: He has averaged 22.4 fantasy points per game as a starter this season, while scoring at least 19 fantasy points in five of six starts and 23-plus points in three of his last four games.
  • Sit J.J. McCarthy: He has had fewer than 160 passing yards and 190 total yards in each of his three starts.

Fire and Ice: Top starts, sits and sleepers in fantasy football for Week 10

Are you struggling to set your Week 10 fantasy lineups? Maybe I can help… Below you can find my top fire (boom) and ice (bust) players at each position for Week 10. I also include my sleeper of the week at each position in case you are in a deeper league or in need of a replacement for an ice player.

Don’t miss my Fire and Ice chart at the bottom of this page. There, I have listed out all of my fire, good, sleeper and ice plays for Week 10 of the 2025 fantasy football season.

Quarterbacks

Fire QB Start of the Week: Jaxson Dart (at CHI)

Jaxson Dart has averaged 22.4 fantasy points per game as a starter this season, while scoring at least 19 fantasy points in five of six starts and 23-plus points in three of his last four games. Only Lamar Jackson (23.8), Josh Allen (23.2) and Patrick Mahomes (22.9) have averaged more fantasy points in starts in 2025.

Despite facing below-average quarterbacks, including Tyler Huntley, Spencer Rattler, J.J. McCarthy and Geno Smith in four of their eight games this season, the Chicago Bears have still allowed the seventh-most fantasy points on average to quarterbacks in 2025. Last week, Joe Flacco put up four touchdowns and  30.7 fantasy points against them.

Sleeper QB of the Week: Jared Goff (at WAS)

It has been a disappointing fantasy season for Jared Goff, who is just the QB17 on average with 17.1 fantasy points per game. Goff has only hit 17-plus points in three games this season and 20-plus points in two, but he should be able to have a big game this weekend against the struggling Washington Commanders’ defense. The Commanders have allowed seven of the nine opposing quarterbacks they have faced this season to hit at least 18 fantasy points against them, including Sam Darnold, who scored a season-high 27.2 points against them last Sunday.

Ice QB Start of the Week: J.J. McCarthy (vs. BAL)

J.J. McCarthy has been a solid fantasy producer in his limited starts in the NFL, scoring at least 18 fantasy points in two of his three starts. Still, I expect a big let-down game in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens‘ recently improved defense. McCarthy has had fewer than 160 passing yards and 190 total yards in each of his three starts.

The Ravens struggled over the first five weeks of the season but have allowed just 13.0 points per game to opponents since Week 6. Over their last three games, they held Matthew Stafford to 9.3 fantasy points, Caleb Williams to 11.8 points and Tua Tagovailoa to 8.5 points.

Running Backs

Fire RB Start of the Week: Quinshon Judkins (at NYJ)

In the four games that Quinshon Judkins has played at least 50% of the Cleveland Browns‘ offensive snaps, he has averaged 19.6 fantasy points per game. He suffered a shoulder injury in the game before the Browns’ Week 9 bye, but he is off the injury report as we enter Week 10 and gets a fantastic matchup.

In the New York Jets‘ last game before their Week 9 bye, they allowed Bengals running backs to combine for 42.5 fantasy points, while Chase Brown scored 25.5 points and Samaje Perine finished with 17.0 points. This week, the Jets traded away Quinnen Williams (90.8 PFF run-defense grade) and Sauce Gardner (80.9), who were their top-two graded run defenders on the season. Williams leads all defensive linemen in the NFL with a 90.8 run defensive grade in 2025.

Sleeper RB of the Week: TreVeyon Henderson (at TB)

TreVeyon Henderson has yet to score more than 12 fantasy points in a game in the NFL, but if Rhamondre Stevenson sits out another week, this could be his breakout game. Henderson played 75% of the Patriots‘ offensive snaps last week and was on the field for 83% of the team’s third-down snaps, more than doubling his third-down play rate in any game this season. Henderson notched career-highs six targets (tied) and 32 receiving yards in Week 9.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have allowed the seventh most fantasy points per game to running backs in 2025. The Bucs are a stingy run defense, allowing just 3.9 yards per carry, but they have allowed the most receiving yards to running backs this season. Henderson is just the type of running back that can do damage against the Buccaneers’ defense.

Ice RB Start of the Week: Jacory Croskey-Merritt (vs. DET)

Jacory Croskey-Merritt has failed to hit six fantasy points in each of his last four games, scoring just 5.8, 4.2, 2.5 and 5.1 fantasy points over that span. Outside of his huge Week 5 performance, Croskey-Merritt has been an irrelevant fantasy producer in his rookie season, despite leading the backfield in snaps and touches on the year. He is set up to have a fifth-straight poor fantasy performance this week, as he faces the Detroit Lions, who have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points per game to the running back position this season. The Washington Commanders‘ backfield is a wasteland for fantasy points this season and should be avoided at all costs.

Wide Receivers

Fire WR Start of the Week: Garrett Wilson (vs. CLE)

Garrett Wilson has scored 19-plus fantasy points in four of six games played this season while seeing at least eight targets in all six games. On paper, the Cleveland Browns seem like a scary matchup, but their defense at home, compared to on the road, is drastically different.

  • Browns at home (4 games): 13.5 PPG allowed, 4 pass TDs allowed, 4 INT
  • Browns on the road (4 games):  32.5 PPG allowed, 11 pass TDs allowed, 2 INT

The Browns have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers when they play on the road this season. No team has allowed more receiving touchdowns to wide receivers in away games in 2025.

Sleeper WR Start of the Week: Stefon Diggs (at TB)

Stefon Diggs has scored double-digit fantasy points in five of the last six games, finishing with a touchdown in each of his last two games. Three wide receivers have scored 20-plus fantasy points against the Buccaneers this season, and they are all route-running technicians — Jaxon Smith-Njigba (27.2), Garrett Wilson (24.4) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (19.2). Diggs is not at the level of those players at this point in his career, but he is still one of the better route-runners in the league.

Ice WR Starts of the Week: DJ Moore (vs. NYG)

DJ Moore scored more than 12 fantasy points for the first time this year in Week 9 with 23 points against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he needed both a passing and aDallas Cowboys).

The New York Giants are a favorable matchup for wide receivers, so Moore isn’t a must-sit in Week 10, but don’t expect the fantasy production that he put up last week. He is much more likely to score somewhere between eight and 11 points instead of having another 20-plus point game.

Tight Ends

Fire TE Start of the Week:  Dallas Goedert (at GB)

Dallas Goedert has seven touchdowns over his last six games played. His seven touchdowns on the season are tied for the second most in the NFL, behind only Davante Adams (eight).

The Green Bay Packers have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the tight end position in 2025. There have been six tight ends this season to get five-plus targets in a game against the Packers: Trey McBride, Zach Ertz, Jake Ferguson, Sam LaPorta, Tanner Hudson and David Njoku. This group combined for five receiving touchdowns in their matchup against the Packers, and all but Njoku scored at least 11 fantasy points, while the first three each hit 17-plus points.

Sleeper TE of the Week: Dalton Schultz (vs. JAX)

Dalton Schultz has sneakily scored at least 11 fantasy points in three of his last four games, without scoring a single touchdown in any of those games. Since Week 5, Schultz has averaged nearly seven targets and 65 receiving yards per game.

Last week against the Denver Broncos, Schultz caught six receptions for 77 yards on eight targets – four of his six receptions came from passes by Davis Mills, who will be starting for the Houston Texans in Week 10 with C.J. Stroud in concussion protocol. This week, Schultz will face the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have allowed the fifth-most receptions and second-most fantasy points per game to the tight end position this season.

Ice TE Start of the Week: Pat Freiermuth (at LAC)

Pat Freiermuth has only scored more than six fantasy points in a week this season in the two games in which he caught a touchdown. He has 31 or fewer receiving yards in all but one game in 2025 while putting up fewer than 15 yards in three of his last five games. This is not a favorable matchup for Freiermuth, as the Los Angeles Chargers have allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points on average to tight ends this season. If Freiermuth does not find the end zone in this matchup, fantasy managers will be lucky to get five points from him.

Fire and Ice Fantasy Football Plays

Here, I categorize every relevant fantasy player into five different buckets: (1) fire starts (best starts of the week); (2) thumbs up (good starts); (3) Risky players with upside (sleepers); (4) Ice starts (predicting bad performance from good player); (5) Stop (must sits).

Note: If a player/defense is not listed, I am not considering starting them in Week 10. I did not include Raiders/Broncos players as they will have already played by the time this article is published.
