This just in on a Friday, the Los Angeles Rams will be starting Harrison Mevis (The Thiccer Kicker) over second year player Joshua Karty on Sunday in a massive game against the San Francisco 49ers. You can see the tweet from Adam Schefter below.
The Rams kicker Sunday vs. the 49ers will be Harrison Mevis. Joshua Karty has been the Rams kicker but he has missed more field goal and extra point attempts this season than any kicker in the league.

Karty was 10-15 on field goals this season and 23-26 on extra points. In 2024, Karty was 29-34 of field goals and 32-36 on extra points.
Had Karty been able to convert just a little better (and if everything stayed the same) the Rams would be undefeated this year. That’s not what happened, and instead, Karty will be sitting this week out.
Now, are all the special teams’ woes on Karty? Doubtful, but he’s the kicker, the face of unit and he was struggling, so Sean McVay is going in a different direction.
Mevis, has yet to kick at the NFL level, but he has experience with the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League. He won a special teams player of the week award and converted 20-21 field goals.
This is a big move for the Rams, and it will be interesting to see if Karty ever kicks with the team again.
Earlier this week I had asked if the Rams should go with the “Karty Party” or “The Thiccer Kicker”? As of right this moment, the Rams have given us an answer.
More news and information about this move to come, surely.
