The question — “Is this the place you want to be?” — was an obvious one and, at least in the minds of the Eagles’ two star receivers, the answer — phrased in the form of a question — was just as obvious. “Have I said anything (about not being here)?” A.J. Brown said Thursday after both he and the Eagles returned to the practice field in South Philadelphia. Brown’s locker-room neighbor felt the need to chime in on the matter. “Why wouldn’t he be here?” DeVonta Smith asked. That had been the prevailing opinion throughout the last month as the trade deadline neared, but pockets of doubt were created by stories suggesting general manager Howie Roseman might move his star receiver for the right hefty price. Those stories were likely fueled by Brown’s frequent social media posts suggesting he was unhappy with how often the ball was coming in his direction.

How did A.J. Brown spend the bye week as his name swirled around trade rumors ahead of the deadline? He spent time in the backyard playing football with his son. Did he think there was a chance he would get traded? “I don’t know. I think it’s the nature of the business,” Brown said by his locker on Thursday. “But my focus was to be present with my family, my kids and get healthy.” And Brown, 28, is healthy. After missing the Eagles’ Week 8 game against the Giants with a hamstring injury, the bye week did his body good. He returned to practice on Thursday as a full participant. Brown fully expects to be on the field Monday night in Green Bay. “I’m playing,” Brown said. “I’m good to go.” […] The latest round of speculation about Brown’s future seemed to kick off when, after his 121-yard performance against the Vikings, Brown posted on Instagram with the cryptic caption, “Using me but not using me.” On Thursday, Brown was asked specifically about that caption. “I’m not getting into all that,” he said. “I’m just going to focus on this week. We got Green Bay, great opponent.”
Eagles Injury Report: Good news on A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley – BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report in advance of their Week 10 road game against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. The Eagles listed one player under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: Cam Jurgens. Jurgens hasn’t suited up since leaving the Eagles’ Week 7 win early due to a knee injury. Brett Toth has filled in at center since then. Given that Toth looked good in Week 8, maybe the team is trying to give Jurgens some extra time to get right? Or maybe it’s as simple as he’s not able to play right now. On that note, the Eagles opened Willie Lampkin’s 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve on Thursday. Seems like he could be activated in order to provide more center depth while Jurgens is unavailable.

5) The Eagles’ improving rushing attack vs. the Packers’ good run defense. The Eagles got their run game going against the Giants before the bye, with Saquon Barkley running for 150 yards and Tank Bigsby going for over 100. Of course, the Giants’ run defense sucks. The Packers’ run defense doesn’t suck. They’re allowing 89.4 rushing yards per game, which is good for fifth in the NFL, though it’s worth noting that Panthers RB Rico Dowdle ran for 130 yards and 2 TDs against the Packers’ defense Week 9. The Eagles will look to keep their run game momentum going, and the Packers will look to get back on track. (Also, as a reminder, this is the team that tried to stop the Tush Push off the field because they don’t want to have to stop it on the field. So, you know, subplot.)
Last year the Eagles went 16-1 after the bye and dominated a lot of those games. The team doesn’t have as many games to play this time around. Beyond that, I don’t see the same kind of dominant run. The team has had to deal with more injuries and more drama this season. It was encouraging to see them dominate the Giants in the last game, but this is a different team and has a challenging schedule.

The Eagles brought Alexander in for a pre-draft visit before the cornerback was the 18th overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisville. Selected by this week’s opponent, the Green Bay Packers. “I was like, ‘Wow, this is amazing. Dream come true,’” Alexander said. “t’s going to be nostalgic. You know, it’s going to be fun seeing the guys that I grew up with. “The challenge is obvious. They’re a good offense. They’re really good on third down. Those guys are a talented group.” A two-time All-Pro, Alexander’s 2024 season was cut short due to a knee injury, which caused him to miss the playoff matchup against the Eagles. He was released by Green Bay and signed with Baltimore. He appeared in two games, but was still working his way back from the injury. Now, Alexander says, “This is the best I’ve felt.” He’s been studying with Passing Game Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach Christian Parker, who was an assistant coach in Green Bay during Alexander’s time. Alexander joked that they’re best friends at this point since they’ve spent so much time together.

Why Dan picked the Eagles: The last time we saw Jordan Love play against Philadelphia, he threw three interceptions in a game that ended the Packers’ season. Now he’s looking to avenge that crushing defeat without his most important weapon, TE Tucker Kraft, who suffered an ACL tear in Green Bay’s stunning loss to the Panthers. I don’t like the timing of this matchup for the first-place team in the NFC North. The Eagles filled some holes on defense before the trade deadline and have never lost coming off a bye in the regular season since Nick Sirianni was hired as head coach in 2021. Plus, their running game finally woke up to the tune of 276 yards when they last took the field. In that same stretch, we’ve seen some cracks emerge in the Packers’ run defense, with the team allowing 5 yards per carry in the past two weeks. The inconsistency of the Pack this season leaves me unsure of what to expect from them. I lean slightly in Philly’s favor, given the circumstances.

Fantasy nugget: Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has only 39 targets, but he has still scored at least 10 fantasy points in six of seven games, including three games with 17 or more, thanks in part to his league-leading seven touchdowns as a TE. He has a favorable matchup this week against a defense that allows the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the position.
In a one-on-one interview with CBS News Philadelphia’s Pat Gallen, Eagles QB Jalen Hurts talked about his charity work in Philadelphia, including his work with the KB Foundation. The Super Bowl MVP said he feels it’s his duty to continue to be involved in the community.
History will judge Matt LaFleur, even if he’s never fired – Acme Packing Company
Unless the Packers have a truly catastrophic end to this season, I don’t think there’s any real chance Matt LaFleur is going to get fired. There’s been plenty of discussion about LaFleur’s employment prospects with the Packers this week, but the reality is there’s probably not much upside to making that change now, and it probably wouldn’t be accompanied by much other significant change. Maybe the Packers install Jeff Hafley as their head coach and let him hire an offensive staff, but that’s a big, tricky ask in the middle of what amounts to a two-year Super Bowl window. The reality is, LaFleur’s probably going to be the guy who guides the Packers through this window of contention, like it or not. But that doesn’t mean history won’t judge him. And of the key figures in the Packers’ organization right now, I think LaFleur is the most squarely in the crosshairs to be judged harshly.

It’s certainly possible this was just the classic trap. The Packers didn’t prep enough, overlooked the Panthers, and focused the majority of their effort on their Week 10 matchup with the Eagles. That would be an acceptable excuse if Green Bay hadn’t already fallen into a trap twice. This kind of complacency is inexcusable when you’ve made the same mistake twice before. If the Packers want to get out of second gear and assert themselves as one of the best teams in the NFL they need to correct these problems. There has to be more attention to detail, and more importantly better preparation. On Sunday it felt like Green Bay lost the game before they ever stepped on the field, and that belies greatness.

It was reported on Thursday morning that Marshawn Kneeland tragically died at the age of 24. As details unfolded in the aftermath, it was reported that Kneeland died by suicide as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This is a horrific and unspeakable tragedy. Kneeland was just 24 years old. The Dallas Cowboys drafted him in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown just this past Monday night for all the world to see. There is no way to convey how devastating this news is. We cover the Dallas Cowboys here at Blogging The Boys and all matters that pertain to them. Kneeland’s death is something that is going to stick with the team and all involved for some time.
Washington Commanders Injury Update: Jayden Daniels won’t need surgery or go to IR – Hogs Haven
Jayden Daniels suffered an ugly elbow dislocation in the 4th quarter of a blowout loss to the Seahawks two weeks ago. He planted his hand in the grass to brace himself while being tackled, and his elbow bent the wrong way. X-rays didn’t reveal any broken bones, and there was reportedly no ligament damage. Ian Rapoport said the injury isn’t as serious as originally anticipated, and Daniels won’t need surgery. He wasn’t placed on injured reserve when the Commanders shut down two other players injured vs the Seahawks. John Keim reports he’s just “feeling a little sore” and that’s one of the reasons they didn’t put him on IR.
New York Giants fans unhappy with NFL trade deadline inactivity – Big Blue View
The New York Giants didn’t make a trade prior to the 2025 trade deadline back on Tuesday. They neither acquired a receiver to help fill out a perilously thin wide receiver depth chart, nor were they able to trade any players to add draft picks for the future. That might not have been for lack of trying, however. We heard reports that the Giants were making calls with regards to the big name receivers like Jaylin Waddle, however the asking price was too high for the Giants’ liking. There were also reports that the Giants were fielding calls regarding players like wide receiver Jalon Hyatt and guard Evan Neal. However, it appears as though the Giants weren’t going to offload them for a pittance — which is curious considering neither seems to figure into the Giants near-term plans. But regardless of how things unfolded behind the scenes, Giants fans aren’t happy the team didn’t make any moves.
