Are you feeling confident about Philadelphia’s chances in this game?
After beating the New Orleans Saints as 2.5-point road underdogs in Week 3, the Philadelphia Eagles are back to being favored in Week 4.
The Birds are 2.5-point road favorites against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to FanDuel.
The Bucs are 2-1 after losing to the previously winless Denver Broncos as 6.5-point home favorites. And not only did the Bucs lose … but they weren’t even really that competitive. Tampa gave up 17 unanswered points before the final score finished at 26 to 7 (and the Broncos kneeled the game out while in field goal range).
Prior to their Week 3 loss, the Bucs beat the Washington Commanders by three possessions and narrowly edged out the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. So, it’s hard to say they should be taken lightly.
Really, an impossible thing to suggest after watching the Bucs blow out the Eagles when these two teams last met in the Wild Card round last season. We’ll see just how far Jalen Hurts and the offense have come against Todd Bowles’ penchant for sending zero blitzes at the Eagles’ quarterback. We’ll also see if the Eagles are able to build off an excellent defensive showing in New Orleans.
The Eagles very well might be short-handed entering this game. It’s unclear if A.J. Brown is ready to return. DeVonta Smith, Lane Johnson, Mekhi Becton, Darius Slay, and Britain Covey all got banged up against the Saints. The Eagles’ injury reports figure to be especially worth monitoring this week.
Without knowing where those key players stand, it’s difficult to gauge the Eagles’ outlook for this upcoming game. But after watching their resilience in Week 3, I don’t know, maybe they’ve got something cooking. They could be motivated to turn in a good effort before being able to rest during their Week 5 bye.
What say you?
