The Miami Dolphins have adjusted their tight end position, the team announced on Wednesday, as an injury has sidelined the team’s top option. During the team’s Week 7 loss to the Cleveland Browns, Darren Waller sustained a pectoral muscle injury that sidelined him for much of the game.
“It was soft tissue,” head coach Mike McDaniel said earlier this week of Waller’s injury. “It’s a situation that probably it would be living in hope to see him in the upcoming next weeks’ games, but he’ll be diligent. This means a lot to him, but that’s kind of where I’m at with it right now with the information I have.”
The first of the moves Miami made on Wednesday was to place Waller on injured reserve. Waller missed the start of the season with a hip injury. In his first three games with Miami, he had 10 receptions on 12 targets for 117 yards and four touchdowns. He was not targeted before the injury forced him from the game.
Filling the roster spot for Waller, Miami promoted Greg Dulcich from the practice squad. A 2022 third-round pick of the Denver Broncos, Dulcich has recorded 41 receptions for 464 yards and two touchdowns during his career. He split last year with the Broncos and the New York Giants after being claimed off waivers when Denver attempted to move him to the practice squad. He signed with the Dolphins’ practice squad this year after being cut by the Giants in the final round of roster cuts.
Filling Dulcich’s practice squad position, the Dolphins signed Chris Myarick. Originally signed by the Dolphins in 2019 as an undrafted free agent, he has spent time with Miami, the Giants, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Houston Texans during his career. He has 10 receptions in his career, accounting for 82 yards and two touchdowns. He signed with the Dolphins during this year’s preseason before being cut in the final round of roster cuts.
