New York entered 2025 with former Bears and Steelers QB Justin Fields under center. Fields has yet to throw an interception this season and has seven combined touchdowns (four passing and three rushing). He became the first quarterback since at least 1950 to have zero interceptions and zero wins in their first six starts of a season and was subsequently benched during Week 7 in favor of veteran signal caller Tyrod Taylor. Taylor has appeared in three games this season, throwing three touchdowns to three interceptions.
“Guys like Joe Flacco, there aren’t that many of them and how many times will Joe Burrow get a chance to share a meeting room with that guy, share a practice field with that guy?” Pitcher asked, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I don’t know. I know I’ve learned stuff being around him and it’s an experience that will inform how I coach and think about the game and the type of skills and approach that I value at that position. I think, sure, anybody that spends some time with him could take something away.”
If Flacco an avoid throwing an interception Sunday against the Jets, one of his former teams, he will become the second quarterback in Cincinnati franchise history not to throw an interception in his first three starts for the team.
“So Aaron’s interception, the first one,” Roethlisberger said. “I think there’s an outside chance. I know it sounds crazy. With Aaron, he’s incredibly good. He sees everything. But the Bengals were in all white. They painted the middle of the field white. I think there’s a chance that the safety was camouflaged in the middle and Aaron didn’t see him. … Typically, you would think like, ‘It’s not the Patriots so it wasn’t cheating.’”
But Turner has quietly looked like the No. 1 cornerback for the Bengals at a time when the supposed No. 1, Cam Taylor-Britt, has been outright benched and inactive at least once already.
