ESPN names Bengals as potential trade partner for Broncos defender

What would you think about this, Bengals fans?

The Cincinnati Bengals don’t often involve themselves in conversations with other teams before the trade deadline. The last time they traded with another team after the start of the season was when they sent disgruntled quarterback Carson Palmer to the Raiders in October of 2011.

Before that, you’d have to go back to 1972.

So it’s not likely the Bengals are going to look to add to the roster via trade before the deadline on November 4.

However, ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes the Bengals could be an ideal landing spot for Broncos defensive tackle DJ Jones if the team decides to move him.

Jones signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with the Broncos before the 2022 season and is in the final season of his contract. The Broncos don’t look like they’re going to be overly competitive in the AFC West and could look to unload Jones and the $10 million they’re paying him this season.

“Jones turns 30 in January, so he’s not likely to be a candidate for a long-term extension with a new team, but he could help a contender as a half-season rental,” Graziano wrote.

The Bengals are banged up at the position. Both starting defensive tackles Sheldon Rankins and BJ Hill left the team’s Week 2 game with a hamstring injury, and they’ve already had to dip into free agency, bringing in Lawrence Guy, to help minimize the damage injuries have had on the defensive front.

Adding another big body could make sense, especially if the Bengals continue to struggle against the run as the season wears on.

What would you think about a potential trade with the Broncos to get Jones in stripes?
