We’ve made it through the first quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium, and our Minnesota Vikings trail the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 7-3.

The Vikings won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half, giving the defending Super Bowl champions the football first. As expected, the Eagles went heavy to Saquon Barkley early, and their fourth down rugby play helped to continue their opening possession into Minnesota territory. The Eagles then had another fourth down play, and they took advantage of a mismatch on defense as Jalen Hurts found A.J. Brown for a 37-yard touchdown to make it 7-0 midway through the first quarter.

Minnesota then took over and got things going with a pair of completions from Carson Wentz, one to Adam Thielen for a first down on a third-down throw and then a big 34-yarder to Jordan Addison to put the Vikings into Philadelphia territory. Then, after the Vikings got into the red zone, Blake Brandel snapped the ball about five feet over Wentz’s head on a third down play, and the Vikings wound up settling for a 59-yard field goal from Will Reichard to cut the deficit to 7-3.

The Vikings’ defense then forced a three-and-out from the Eagles on their next possession, and as we move to the second quarter, the Vikings are looking at 1st-and-1o from their own 34-yard line.

One quarter of play in the books in this one, and the Vikings trail the Eagles by a score of 7-3. Come on in and join us for the second quarter of play!
