Other Giant observations
Jaxson Dart is happy to be the Giants’ song-and-dance man | New York Post
A Broncos linebacker noted that Jaxson Dart dances and wears chains. Dart was amused by that. He gave The Post his response: “I think a lot of guys wear chains and dance when they score touchdowns. I appreciate him following my dance touchdowns.”

How Giants are borrowing from Ole Miss playbook to accentuate Jaxson Dart’s strengths | The Athletic
A big part of Dart’s comfort level in his three starts has been the way coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka have tailored the offense to their young quarterback’s strengths. That has included taking passing concepts from Ole Miss’ playbook and featuring them in the Giants’ offense. The Giants have even started using Ole Miss coaches’ names for some of their one-word play calls when they’re going up-tempo, which was another staple of Dart’s college offense.
“I was trying to figure out a few concepts back home, like ‘What play is that? I don’t remember running that play,’” said Wide receiver Juice Wells, who was re-signed to the Giants’ practice squad on Monday. “I was just watching and I was like, ‘Dang, those look exactly like some of the Ole Miss plays’.”
Giants got Jaxson Dart comfortable with Ole Miss concepts in offense | New York Daily News
Wells’ re-signing is more evidence of Dart’s influence on the offense and plan. The quarterback all but confirmed he made the suggestion to bring Wells back, and Daboll and Schoen listened. As they should have. If they’re embracing the Ole Miss offense’s concepts, they might as well bring back a receiver who knows that playbook better than most.
“First of all, it’s just cool to be in an organization where everybody can cooperate and communicate with one another,” Dart said. “That’s something that I’m really thankful for, just being here. So, me and [Daboll] have conversations all day, every day, about kind of how he sees things, how I see things. There’s definitely a lot of communication.”
Coach Brian Daboll 1-on-1: The next challenge | Giants.com
Q: One of the big stories of the last three weeks has been the fast starts. What is yours and Mike Kafka’s philosophy on scripted starts?
Daboll: “You go through a week, you practice for three days and you have a bunch of meetings. You try to do what you think you can do in the beginning part of the game, but ultimately it falls on the players executing and making plays. It takes all 11 guys to be on the same page. Mike and the staff do a good job of trying to put together things that we think will be effective. There’s got to be a comfort level. You have to practice it so that you’re dialed into the details. But ultimately it comes down to execution. Give the players a lot credit for that.”

“We’ve got a really good defense to go against. So that’s what’s keeping me up [at night].” Those were the words of rookie QB Jaxson Dart. He knows what to expect with this Denver defense. The Broncos lead the league in sacks and pressure percentage (46.1%), and their 30 sacks is 10 more than any other team. “The sacks stand out,” coach Brian Daboll said. As a result, expect him to try to get the ball out of Dart’s hand quickly.
Giants’ Cam Skattebo used small-town fire to fuel his big-city smoke for New York | The Athletic
Skattebo was a virtual circus act at Rio Linda High. Down six points in the fourth quarter of the 2018 regional title game against West Valley, Skattebo decided on his own to keep a football he was supposed to hand off on a designed reverse and dropped back to pass. He took his time before scrambling to his left and firing the ball downfield while getting blasted on the release. His quarterback, Tyson Ybarra, came down with it and raced into the end zone before Skattebo sealed the victory on the next possession with a 70-yard touchdown run.
Amid the chaos, Garceau asked his running back why it took so long for him to throw the ball on the scrapped reverse. “I was counting our linemen to make sure they were not downfield,” Skattebo replied. He did all this a week after scoring seven touchdowns against Casa Roble.
How Cam Skattebo has proven doubters wrong every step of the way: ‘Brain doesn’t correlate with fear’ | New York Post
His earliest skeptics are now his strongest believers.
Becky Skattebo — who has four children and works in the medical field, so experienced with infant issues — could not place what was going on with her 9-month-old’s stomach and feared a hernia. She brought him to see a pediatrician only to be told that what she was looking at were defined muscles that had not yet come together.

The 10 best NFL player matchups to watch in Week 7 | PFF
Denver Broncos EDGE Nik Bonitto vs. New York Giants T Andrew Thomas. Giants-Broncos is an intriguing game considering New York’s improved offense against arguably the league’s best defense. How well the Giants’ offense performs will, in part, be defined by this clash.
Bonitto has played at an All-Pro caliber this year, sporting an 83.8 PFF pass-rushing grade — which places 11th among qualified edge rushers. His 29 pressures are tied for fourth at the position, having collected at least three in each of his six outings. Thomas has completely shored up Jaxson Dart’s blindside since his season debut in Week 4. The former fourth overall pick has only permitted two pressures on 119 opportunities, including pitching a shutout against the Chiefs, Chargers and Saints.
Giants Offensive Line Makes Strides in Updated Ranking | SI.com
Zoltan Buday of PFF ranks the Giants’ offensive line 19th headed into Week 7, one spot up from their Week 6 ranking. Buday notes the Giants have been steadily improving throughout the season.
“The Giants’ offensive line continues to improve as the season wears on. The unit did not give up a sack against the Eagles, leading to a 14th-ranked 86.4 PFF pass-blocking efficiency rating,” Buday wrote.
This week’s opponent
Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II said he’s looking forward to playing in front of that talented group. A year ago on Alumni Weekend, Surtain recorded a 100-yard pick-six to turn the tide against the rival Raiders.
“I think when you have those great teams with that great lineage come and still support, it means a lot,” Surtain said. “I know the stadium will be electric, especially celebrating them, and also celebrating us. They will bring a lot of good juju for the game. It will be awesome.”

Dart will be the second of the two QBs selected in the first round of the 2025 draft to face the Broncos’ defense this season. Denver vexed Titans QB Cam Ward in Week 1, as the Broncos limited him to 12-of-28 passing for 112 yards and sacked him six times. The Broncos lead the league in defensive EPA, sacks (30), third-down defense and red zone defense, and they are No. 2 in scoring defense. This game features two of the four most penalized teams in the league — the Giants are tied for second, the Broncos are fourth — and that can always muddy the waters.
If Dre Greenlaw plays on Sunday, it will be as a ‘part time player’ | Mile High Report
Broncos Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph met reporters that if Greenlaw does play this week, “it’s got to be in a part-time role. We’ll see. We’re not sure that’s going to happen this weekend or next, but he’s in good spirits, he’s worked hard, he’s in the right mindset.”
