Fantasy Football: 5 last-minute waiver-wire targets before Week 7

By
- Michael Mayer is a top-10 option with Brock Bowers sidelined: In his first game played without Bowers this season, Mayer scored 16 fantasy points while playing on 92% of the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive snaps. The expected game script against the Kansas City Chiefs should offer Mayer a higher target volume in Week 7.
- Luke McCaffrey is a sneaky flex-worthy play in Week 7: McCaffrey has caught a touchdown in three of the last four games, while the Dallas Cowboys have allowed the most receiving touchdowns (12) to wide receivers in 2025.

With already so many key fantasy players injured or on bye weeks, you may find yourself digging deeper on the waiver wire than you ever expected heading into the sixth week of the season. Here are five players to consider adding from the waiver wire heading into Week 7 if you’re in a pinch due to injury.
Lawrence has hit 19 fantasy points in three of six games this season, including each of the last two weeks. He has over 260 total yards and multiple touchdowns in each of his last two games, while he has finally started to connect with second-year wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. on a more consistent basis. This game will be played in London, where Lawrence and the Jaguars tend to step up for their European fans. Lawrence has scored at least 15 fantasy points in each of his last four games played in London. The Los Angeles Rams have had an inconsistent defense this season. Since Week 3, the Rams have allowed both Jalen Hurts (29) and Mac Jones (22.2) to score over 22 fantasy points against them.

Hunt has scored three rushing touchdowns this season; he is the only Chiefs running back with a touchdown on the ground this year. He leads the team with 11 red-zone carries and five goal-line carries in 2025. In fact, Hunt is the only Chiefs running back with a carry inside the opponent’s five-yard line this year.
I like Isiah Pacheco this week, as he was recently more involved in the offense, specifically in the red zone in Week 6. Still, there is room for both Pacheco and Hunt to be productive in this matchup against the Raiders, who have allowed the third-most rushing touchdowns to running backs in 2025. Over the last three weeks, running backs have scored six rushing touchdowns against the Raiders. Hunt is just one week removed from an 18.7 point fantasy performance, and this juicy matchup makes him a viable RB2 or flex option if you are in a pinch with byes/injuries.

Kirk had a season-high 64 receiving yards and 10.4 fantasy points in Week 5, before the Texans’ Week 6 bye. Now, he’ll face the Seattle Seahawks with their starting CB Devon Witherspoon and safety Julian Love both questionable to play in this matchup. As long as the Texans’ offensive line can hold up, I expect C.J. Stroud to have a good game this Monday night. If Stroud can put together a good game, that should allow Kirk to put together a top-30 fantasy performance, as he is slowly becoming Stroud’s second-favorite target behind Nico Collins. Plus, this is a good matchup for slot receivers like Kirk, as the Seahawks have allowed the fifth-most receiving yards and second-most touchdowns to slot receivers this season. If you are in a full PPR league, Kirk is a viable flex option this week.

McCaffrey has hit double-digit fantasy points and caught a touchdown in three of the last four games. On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys have allowed the most fantasy points per game (42.7) and receiving touchdowns (12) to the wide receiver position this season. Seven different wide receivers have scored 15-plus fantasy points against the Cowboys in 2025, and at least one wide receiver has scored 18-plus points against them in each of their last five games. With Terry McLaurin officially ruled out yet again in Week 7, and with Deebo Samuel banged up due to a heel injury, the Commanders will need other playmakers to step up in this projected high-scoring matchup.

In Week 6, Mayer returned from a two-game absence (concussion) and played on 92% of the Raiders’ offensive snaps with Brock Bowers sidelined due to a knee injury. In that game, Mayer put up 16 fantasy points with five receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. Bowers is not expected to be back this week, which should allow Mayer to remain a large part of the Raiders’ offense game plan on Sunday against the Chiefs, who allowed Detroit Lions’ tight end Sam LaPorta to score 16.5 fantasy points against them last weekend. The Raiders are big underdogs against the Chiefs, which should lead to a perfect game script for there to be heavy target volume headed Mayers’ way.
