The good guys continue to lead
They’re heading into the locker rooms for halftime (and Bobby Bryant’s Ring of Honor induction ceremony) at U.S. Bank Stadium, and the Minnesota Vikings continue to lead the Houston Texans by a score of 14-0.
The Texans punted the ball away on the first play of the quarter, and the Vikings then put together their worst drive of the afternoon with multiple penalties that resulted in a three-and-out. Houston pushed into Minnesota territory on the ensuing drive, but turned a 3rd-and-4 into a 3rd-and-19 by committing three consecutive false start penalties thanks to the U.S. Bank Stadium crowd and punted it back to Minnesota.
Unfortunately, the Vikings’ drive stalled out around midfield and Minnesota punted it back. Houston got the ball to near midfield and faced a 4th-and-3 from their own 47-yard line after the two-minute warning break concluded. Rather than go for it, DeMeco Ryans elected to punt it back to the Vikings.
The choice was the right one, as the Vikings’ drive stalled following a pair of sacks by the Texans and Minnesota punted it back. The Texans didn’t move the ball after the Ryan Wright punt and the teams went into the locker room with the Vikings up by two scores.
There hasn’t been a lot of action on offense since the Vikings’ first two drives, but that’s a positive for us given that the purple are taking a two-score lead into halftime and will get the ball to start the second half.
The Vikings lead the Texans at halftime in Minneapolis by a score of 14-0. Come on in and join us for the third quarter of play!
