Here is today’s news:
“Shayne Graham got hurt and the punter had to kick,” Fitzpatrick says, still recalling the ire of special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons. “He asked me if I had ever held. The punter was the holder. I said, ‘No.’ So we practiced on the sideline and went out there for an extra point. The hold was probably terrible. It got blocked. Thank God we won the game.”
Steelers vs. Bengals: Three must-know storylines for Thursday’s Week 7 prime-time game
Winners of three straight, the Steelers have taken control of the AFC North the past three weeks while the rest of the division has gone into the tank. The Bengals have lost four straight, although they showed some life late in the losses to the Lions in Week 5 and the Packers in Week 6. Flacco, who last week became the first QB to be traded within a division in-season since at least 1995, gave them more juice in the pass game this past Sunday than they’ve had since Joe Burrow got hurt.
Bengals Place Key Starter on Injured Reserve, More Roster Moves Likely Coming
It’s a major blow to a Bengals’ offense that has struggled without Joe Burrow at quarterback. Gesicki was one of the many proven options Joe Flacco could throw to, but he didn’t even get to play a whole half with the veteran quarterback.
“I mean, I know it. I can — I don’t want to play quarterback. Let me just say that,” Chase said. “I don’t want to play quarterback, but I can tell guys like, you here, here, here and here. Yeah, I can do that, but I do not wanna play quarterback.”
Bengals think Jake Browning’s arm ‘died out’ before Joe Flacco trade
“The offense definitely looked different with Flacco in there, and he gives them a puncher’s chance of keeping playoff hopes alive while Joe Burrow heals up. For what it’s worth, the Bengals thought Jake Browning’s arm had died out, and he wasn’t seeing things as far, necessitating the trade.”
Bengals’ Logan Wilson’s comments on benching, Zac Taylor seem critical
As seen in footage from CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia, Wilson owned the benching as a life obstacle in some really positive ways…all before dropping a “Zac felt otherwise” comment at the end:
Between them, Rodgers and Flacco have won a Super Bowl each with the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens, respectively. When speaking with reporters Tuesday, Rodgers was heckled a bit by teammate Cameron Heyward — just 36 — who called Thursday’s game the “Icy Hot Bowl.” On a short week, it’s likely to be.
