Puka Nacua left Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with an apparent injury in the first half and the Rams star is likely to miss games because of it. While he did return in the second half in a limited role, Nacua could miss time moving forward. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Nacua suffered a sprained ankle in Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens that will likely cause him to miss time.
That’s disappointing news for the Rams and Nacua after the wide receiver was off to a historic start to the 2025 season. Nacua’s 52 catches through five weeks were the most ever for a wide receiver. Given his workload and history of injuries, something like this was almost inevitable. It seems likely now that Nacua will miss Sunday’s game in London at Wembley Stadium against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Following the Jaguars game, the Rams will have their bye week before playing the New Orleans Saints.
With a rematch against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10, it’s possible that the Rams try to get by without Nacua until then. After the Rams play the Saints, they have back-to-back division games against the 49ers and Seahawks before a big matchup at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Rams will need Nacua healthy for that key stretch.
The question now becomes who will step up in Nacua’s place during his absence. While Davante Adams has been a solid addition to the offense, he and Stafford haven’t consistently been on the same page. Adams has also struggled with drops at times this season. Jordan Whittington will likely take over Nacua’s role in the offense while Tutu Atwell and others rotate as the third receiver in the offense.
Throughout the season, the Rams have been relatively healthy, but have managed the injuries that they’ve faced. That’s been especially the case along the offensive line as the Rams have started four different offensive line combinations in six weeks. Nacua’s injury will be another one that the team will need to manage over the next month.
