The Indianapolis Colts have another major opportunity to cement their legitimacy as they head out on the road for their second test of the season. Ironically enough, it will be in the exact same building in which they lost in crushing fashion to the Los Angeles Rams. The L.A. part stays the same, but Chargers are swapping in for an important AFC contest. FanDuel Sportsbook is seeing a tight one with the Colts as 1.5-point underdogs.
The money line starts at -104, and the over/under is 48.5.
The Colts gutted out a win over the Cardinals as the offense carried the day. The defense struggled to contain the Cardinal backups and gave up too many big plays. The defense was burned on long yardage downs enough that the Colts might pull the trigger on a mid-season trade. Luckily, Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor had enough to put up 31. It was a back and forth affair that saw the Colts scoring with four minutes left and producing a red zone stand to finish the Cardinals off.
The Chargers won but it was not how they envisioned it at all. It was far from easy as a last second field goal was needed to squeak by the one win Dolphins. Down at half, they built a lead of 26-13 which appeared to be safe. The Dolphins actually took the lead with less than a minute to go. It took a bomb from Justin Herbert to get the Chargers into field goal range and escape with a win. That type of game can’t make anyone in the organization feel comfortable going forward.
Neither the Colts nor the Bolts are heading into this one feeling great. They both got the win but struggled with inferior teams. The Chargers have been up and down but appear more down than up currently. The Colts need to win to legitimize their early season start. The questions will continue if they lose, so it will be best to mute them before they begin.
