Dexter Lawrence will play for the New York Giants on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. The team’s star defensive tackle, who did not practice all week due to illness is among the inactives for the 1 p.m. ET game.
That is good news for a Giants team seeking its second straight victory. The pass rush is not the same without him, and the run defense is already the league’s worst in terms of yards per rushing attempt allowed.
Linebacker Demetrious Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) and running back Tyrone Tracy (shoulder) will miss the game due to injuries. Offensive lineman Evan Neal will be a healthy scratch for the fifth straight game. Defensive lineman Elijah Garcia is a healthy scratch, meaning Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who missed three games with a foot injury, will be active.
Rookie tight end Thomas Fidone, a seventh-round pick by the Giants, is also active for the first time.
