Welcome to the New York Giants betting angle, Week 5 edition! Each week, I’m giving you my three favorite wagers for that week’s New York Giants game. My one rule: I won’t ever give you wagers that are less than -120. No gimmes!
The Giants head to the Big Easy this week to face the Saints, fresh off an emotional and hard-fought upset win over the Chargers, their first triumph of the season. The big news for Big Blue coming out of Week 4: Jaxson Dart sparked the team to a gut-check win and looks like he might have it, and star receiver Malik Nabers is done for the year with a torn ACL. So yeah, a lot happened in Week 4. I was at the game and can report that it was an emotional roller coaster.
The winless Saints went on the road last Sunday and hung in with the undefeated Bills well until the fourth quarter, which was a surprise. They’re in a rebuild and are one of the NFL’s weakest teams so far this season, but they’re favored this week against the Giants. No respect! The line for this one is NO -1.5, with a game total of 41.5.
I went 2-1 for the third straight time last week, and my picks are now 7-5 on the season. I’ll try to let les bon temps roullez with another winning week.
Here are this week’s picks. All lines and odds are from Fanduel and are as of Friday, October 3.
- Giants MONEYLINE (+106). The 0-4 Saints shouldn’t be favored over anyone right now, period. That’s the extent of my analysis. But seriously, I get why the line is what it is. The Saints played well last week, and they know this is a prime spot for their first win of the season. Meanwhile, it’s a potential trap game for what might be an emotionally spent Giants team, after everything that’s happened in the last week. Brian Daboll’s squad has PHI-DEN-PHI lined up after this “easy” game – a red flag. But I think we saw a different energy on both sides of the ball last week, and I like Big Blue’s chances to keep that going and pull off the road upset behind their young QB, while the Saints continue to struggle behind theirs. When the line is this low and I like the ‘dog to win outright, I’d rather take the moneyline at plus-money than the points with the juice, so that’s the pick.
- Darius Slayton OVER 3.5 receptions (+106). I’ll layeranother bet at plus-money. Let’s go! Big play Slay steps into a starting outside receiver role this week, and getting four catches feels doable. He hauled in four last week, and that was with Nabers playing much of the first half. I’m not expecting a monster game, but Dart doesn’t mind pushing the ball downfield and I think he’ll look Slayton’s way enough to hit this prop.
- Saints UNDER 21.5 total points (-113). New Orleans has only topped 20 points once so far this season, and I expect the Giants’ defense to show up again on Sunday. The Saints have done an OK job protecting Spencer Rattler and rank right around the league average in sacks allowed (2.3 per game), but I think Abdul Carter (coming off his best game), Brian Burns, and the rest of the Giants’ pass rushers are going to disrupt the game in a major way. The Giants turned Justin Herbert over twice last week while holding the Chargers to 18 points. I’ll gladly take the under here.
Those are the picks for Week 5. Good luck with your wagers!
