Paulson Adebo returns to New Orleans this weekend, where he played the first four years of his career, with a warning for his New York Giants defensive teammates. Do not take Saints’ quarterback Spencer Rattler lightly.
Rattler, a fifth-round pick by New Orleans a season ago, is 0-10 as the Saints’ starting quarterback. That doesn’t matter to Adebo, who watched him all of last season.
“He’s a good quarterback. I think going into his second year, he looks a little bit more comfortable,” Adebo said. “Great arm talent, I mean, can make all the throws. I think just kind of the journey of a second-year quarterback, still trying to fine tune some things. But it definitely has a lot of potential.”
Rattler of 98 of 146 passing (67.1%) for 765 yards with five touchdowns and just one interception in four games this season.
“They’re doing some good things with him,” Adebo said.
Adebo signed with the Giants in free agency. He is looking forward to returning to the Caesar’s Superdome.
“It definitely gets louder in the dome. It can get rocking. Obviously, it just depends on, I think, what kind of season they’re having,” Adebo said. “A fun stadium to play in for sure.
“It definitely will be kind of unique to be out there, and I’ll have family there too, so that’ll be a fun time.”
On the ‘Valentine’s Views’ podcast this week, Nic Jennings of SB Nation’s Canal Street Chronicles discussed how much the Saints miss Adebo.
“The Saints definitely miss Paulson,” Jennings said. “It’s a guy I thought they should have brought back, but I don’t know if it was within their range.
“The cornerback room is very thin right now. There’s not much to work with.”
Adebo, who had seven interceptions in his last 22 games with the Saints, is still looking for his first one with the Giants. Maybe that will come Sunday in his old stomping grounds as the Giants seek a second straight victory.
“Anytime you can stack wins, I think that’s really big in this league,” Adebo said. “So definitely trying to build off our first win that we had, and trying to get on a streak going into this next week.”
