Are you satisfied with what McVay said about the fourth down call?

“It was a bad call by me.” said Sean McVay as he addressed the media after what may have been McVay’s worst look as the Los Angeles Rams head coach as L.A. fell to the depleted San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. Is McVay’s response enough for you to think this team can bounce […]

“It was a bad call by me.” said Sean McVay as he addressed the media after what may have been McVay’s worst look as the Los Angeles Rams head coach as L.A. fell to the depleted San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. Is McVay’s response enough for you to think this team can bounce back in Week 6 and beyond? Or would you like to hear and see more from the still young head coach?

You either appreciate his accountability, his willingness to take the blame or you would like more detail on what went wrong and what went into McVay’s decision when he ended the game on fourth and short with a run to Kyren Williams (who a few drives earlier had perhaps the worst fumble of the year) instead of kicking for a tie or putting the ball in Matthew Stafford’s hands.

“It was a poor decision by me right there, but you know, give the 9ners credit.”

Did McVay even consider kicking a field goal to tie the game in overtime?

“No…in hindsight I wish I would’ve…”

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Did Stafford like the decision to take the ball out of his hands and put it in the hands of the running back who had fumbled moments earlier?

Said Stafford,

“…I didn’t have any problem with it. I trust in our guys to go out and make a play…frustrating that we didn’t get it.”

What’s Stafford going to say to the media? That McVay made the wrong call? That after throwing three touchdowns and dime after dime that he, not Williams, was the best bet for L.A. to win this game?

Even if that’s true, Stafford didn’t say that, and he wouldn’t, not to the talking heads.

For the fans, they will question how McVay could put the ball in Williams’s hands after the running back had fumbled the game away only a few sequences earlier, as opposed to putting the ball in the hands of their Super Bowl winning quarterback.

McVay and Stafford are going to have the same questions, and though they may not talk to media about it, expect them to talk about it plenty behind the scenes between now and their next game against the Baltimore Ravens, and the next time the Rams are in a fourth and short, do they go back to their running game, or do they give it to the man that McVay claims is the best quarterback for the Rams?

Just like McVay and Stafford, we’ll have to wait and see, and what a long wait it may be.
