Three New York Giants did not practice on Wednesday as the team began its on-field preparations for Sunday’s Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints.
Running back Tyrone Tracy (shoulder), defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence (illness), and guard Greg Van Roten (veteran rest day) were sidelined.
Tracy missed last week’s game after being injured Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Brian Daboll would only say that the second-year running back is “getting closer” to returning.
During the Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Giants gambled by having Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary as the team’s only active running backs.
“I think we did what we thought we needed to do relative to the other areas of the team, too. The special teams. Tae [Banks] was back there for us returning, did a nice job for us,” Daboll said. “It’s something we’ve been working on with him for a while. I thought he did a really nice job with it. We’ll see where we’re at here this week … We just did what we thought we needed to do relative to the roster composition of the team and special teams and areas like that.”
