This type of early success for the Indianapolis Colts has been a long time coming. There have been highlights and decent seasons over the last decade, but there has been a plethora of lowlights that have mostly drowned out any of the good vibes. Having become used to an incredible level of success: division championships, twelve win seasons, consistent playoff appearances, and a Super Bowl win to round it all out, it has been hard to adjust to life “after”. At this point, the 2025 Colts have none of that, but they are on their way towards a successful and exciting season. Because of that, grant yourself permission to enjoy the ride.

It is easy to look at this franchise and Daniel Jones himself and wonder when it’s all going to fall apart. Success hasn’t been overly synonymous with either entity recently. The “yeah, but” and “just wait until” start to pop up when teams that weren’t expected to be this good find early season success. That is completely fine. This team isn’t being crowned Super Bowl champions nor ordained as the next dynasty. They are winning impressively though, showing two things can be true at once.

The Colts opponents are a combined 1-8. That is an easy thing to point to and start talking about stiffer competition. True, but how do you think those teams got three of those losses? Yes, the Dolphins and Titans are not good, but that is part of the schedule. The schedule is relatively favorable for the Colts this year. They are simply taking advantage of that by beating the tar out of the teams they should. Those weren’t squeakers. They dusted both of those teams to claim two victories.

If you want to use the Broncos game to claim a squeaker, that is fair. The Colts could have lost, but they didn’t. Denver may be 1-2 but with a few plays here and there, they could be 3-0 or at least 2-1. Their current record isn’t necessarily indicative of everything that went into it.

The Colts have a major test on the road against the Rams. They may lose that game. There would be no shame in that. Ideally, they would at least be competitive, but there is no scenario in which the Colts go undefeated this year. There will be losses. Win or lose in Los Angeles, they will have still have more opportunities on the schedule for wins. 4-0 or 3-1 is a great place to be to start the year.

There are opportunities across the board to poke holes into where the Colts are right now. There are more opportunities to relish in it, however. The recent going has been tough. Let’s collectively enjoy the here and now and not tie ourselves into knots wondering when it will all go wrong. The season could take a dive Sunday. That is a distinct possibility. It could also serve as a kicking off point for even greater success. That is well within the realm of possibility too. This is as good a year as ever for the Colts to have success. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Enjoy the ride today.
