The New York Giants have made the inevitable move to rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart, naming him the starting quarterback in place of Russell Wilson for Sunday’s Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Giants are 0-3 this season, 3-17 dating back to the beginning of 2024 and have lost 14 of their last 15 games.
The Giants traded up from No. 34 to No. 25 in the draft to select Dart. Head coach Brian Daboll, reported even before Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs to be “hanging on by a thread”, likely felt he had no choice but to see if the rookie could inject some life into the team.
Wilson was signed to a one-year, $10 million contract in the offseason. The 37-year-old sandwiched two poor games around a 450-yard, three touchdown game in Week 2.
