Beaux Limmer was the darling of the Rams day three draft picks in 2024, but he’s the scapegoat in Week 3’s loss to the Eagles. Due to a series of injuries at guard for L.A.‘s offensive line, Limmer has found himself in position to be a key interior presence on the Rams early in the season but unlike when he started 14 games as a rookie these snaps have gone anything but ideal. Limmer has been taking a lot of heat on social media for his presence — or lack thereof — at right guard in place of Kevin Dotson.
Both on offense.
And on special teams, as the Eagles blocked two field goals, including the would-be game-winner to end the game as a win for Philadelphia. Sean McVay all but said that losing Dotson and replacing him with Limmer was the reason for the blocked field goals, something not typical of NFL head coaches to do in a post-game press conference. McVay said that losing Dotson was the main issue prior to stopping himself from outright saying that Limmer was the reason for the blocked field goal and the loss:
Limmer was never supposed to be this important though, so is a sixth round pick who started 14 games at center last year, and now being forced in at guard, really the biggest problem? Should Limmer be blamed for the fact that Les Snead and McVay chose to have BEAUX LIMMER as the fallback option if Steve Avila and/or Dotson got injured? Both are now injured.
Justin Dedich had to step in at left guard and Limmer found himself in a key position at right guard on Sunday. If that were not bad enough, Coleman Shelton has to be one of the lowest-graded starting centers in the NFL but the Rams feel that they can’t pull him from the game because the backup is…Beaux Limmer.
Fans have still taken to twitter to talk about Limmer as a problem that needs fixing despite the fact that he’s just a backup center who shouldn’t be playing guard. Maybe the real problem is that instead of signing a guard, the Rams gave Tutu Atwell $10 million to do absolutely nothing.
Maybe McVay’s play calling should be called into question with a depleted offensive line.
Is Limmer an adequate player to matchup with Jordan Davis? Of course he isn’t. But he’s also a sixth round pick out of Arkansas who is simply not playing above his grade. There is a reason that after 14 starts at center in 2024 the Rams still went out and signed Shelton to replace him at center.
The problem is that despite upgrading the right guard position by trading for Dotson and paying him, the Rams did not do enough to fortify the offensive line positions. A.J. Jackson is adequate, but Rob Havenstein is so far past his prime that he can’t even remember what he did for his 30th birthday anymore.

Tutu Atwell — TOO-TOO TOO MUCH MONEY!
Tutu Atwell has been targeted 3 times in 3 games. He has 4 yards. He was paid $10 million guaranteed by Les Snead. This is one of the worst moves in Snead’s entire history and he’s been a GM for a long time. What in the world were the Rams thinking when they re-signed Atwell? This is absurd.
- Puka Nacua had 15 targets (season targets: 35)
- Davante Adams had 8 targets (season targets: 29)
- Jordan Whittington had 3 targets (season targets: 5)
- Tutu Atwell had 1 target (season targets: 3)
- Tyler Higbee had 2 targets (season targets: 6)
- Kyren Williams had 3 targets (season targets: 7)
- Terrance Ferguson was inactive
Not going to sugarcoat it: These numbers make it seem like Stafford doesn’t know how to make a post-snap decision anymore. He just throws it to one of two players. And the Rams offense is mediocre, if not bad.
Sean McVay – Coach always takes the blame
And the Rams offense was bad on Sunday. Ignore the total number of points, although there’s nothing really special about scoring 26.
- 7 points in the second half
- 7 of the 26 points were gifted off of a turnover
- 6 of the 26 points were field goals on a short field
- Red zone success was bad (1 TD)
- 3rd down: 3-of-10
Credit where credit is due because the Rams finally got the run game offense going (only because McVay FINALLY let Blake Corum cook) but he’s the head coach. He has responsibility for blowing a 26-7 second half lead.
Rams CBs are below-mid
A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith finally ate because the Rams don’t have CBs who can match them. Darious Williams and Emmanuel Forbes are replaceable players.
Which brings us back to Tutu Atwell and Les Snead…
The Rams didn’t spend their assets well
Look, it’s only one game and it’s only one loss, but come back to today in January if the Rams miss the playoffs. Or if they make the playoffs but have to go on the road. Remember, L.A. only won the NFC West last year because of a tiebreaker with Seattle and they had the same divisional record. Conference record is what got the Rams a home playoff game in 2024.
Well, the Rams are 0-1 in the NFC now. It doesn’t matter if the Rams “should have” beat the Eagles or “played good” against the Eagles. To quote Tom Cruise: “It doesn’t matter what I believe, it only matters what I can prove!”
It doesn’t matter if you believe the Rams are a great team. It only matters if their record proves it and losing this game to the Eagles could be the difference in a playoff run and no playoff run. In the NFL, every game matters. So that’s why we have to look back at some of Les Snead’s offseason decisions such as…
-Paying Tutu Atwell $10 million instead of signing OL/CB help
The Atwell contract is HORRIFIC. Everything Tutu does on the field could have been drafted on day three and cost $1 million. This was an absurd decision at the time, but we thought maybe L.A. had huge plans for Tutu. They didn’t. Either that or Tutu has taken the money and run.
If the Rams did not give Tutu $10 million to run around and do nothing, they could have signed Ryan Kelly, a center, for less than they gave Tutu. They could have signed a cornerback like Byron Murphy or Jourdan Lewis or D.J. Reed. They didn’t sign a STARTING center or a STARTING cornerback because they wanted to reward Tutu Atwell’s mediocre career with $10 million. Does he have blackmail receipts on Snead?
-Drafting Terrance Ferguson just to keep him inactive
Look, patience with rookies is imperative and we don’t know if the Ferguson pick will look diabolical in 2 years. It just looks debatable in 2025. A rookie second round pick, that you sacrificed a full round of the draft for when you have major needs, and he can’t even see the field on Sunday.
I’m sorry to tell you that with second round picks that is NOT NORMAL. It’s not normal. It’s not. I know tight end is a hard position. It’s not normal.
The Rams better change the entire trajectory of the franchise with the pick that they got from the Atlanta Falcons to move down. Better yet, the Rams have to think about the pick they made because they passed on players like CB Will Johnson and G Tate Ratledge and WR Isaac TeSlaa.
-Giving Matthew Stafford more money and refusing to trade him for this
Again — before you are very mad at me for bringing it up — the Rams have now tripled-down on a 37-year-old quarterback. Maybe by the end of the season we’ll be praising Snead and McVay for staying the course with Stafford. He’s an extremely TALENTED quarterback!!!
But the Rams gave him more money and solidified their pact with him into 2026 so if they’re wrong, it’s a very costly wrong decision and the truth is that since 2022, Stafford’s overall play has not been what it was in 2021.
-Don’t forget Davante Adams is 33
If the Rams don’t keep Davante after this season, that’s $14 million in dead money left on the cap. Yes, Adams has 213 receiving yards in three games. At what cost? It has taken 29 targets to get 213 yards for an average of 7.34 yards per target.
- From 2020-2022, Adams had an average of 8.9 yards per target.
- From 2023-now, Adams is down to 7.0 yards per target.
- Last season’s NFL average yards per target was 7.2. Basically the Rams paid $22 million per season for Davante Adams to have a league-average yards per target and that’s with Stafford force-feeding him the ball instead of spreading it around to other players.
The Rams didn’t want to give more opportunities to Jordan Whittington or keep Cooper Kupp because they wanted a big name X receiver who can win contested catches and they thought “Wow, Davante Adams was great at that”…yeah, when you were a KID.
He’s 33. Is that really the best use of your money?
