Eagles veteran right tackle Lane Johnson was sidelined in the first quarter on the team’s Week 3 game against the Rams with a neck injury. The team announced he was questionable to return shortly after Jalen Hurts’ tush push into the end zone for the first points of the game. He stayed on the sideline, but didn’t return to the game, even after halftime.
They initially asked veteran Matt Pryor to step into Johnson’s role, but the offense had four failed drives in a row, and eventually brought in Fred Johnson to protect Jalen Hurts after halftime. The offense was able to move down the field quickly with Fred on the field, and put up their first points since the first quarter.
Lane is not a guy the team wants out long term, especially against some of the top edge rushers in the league. Despite his age, the RT said that he felt better than ever heading into the 2025 season, and expected he’d have another year or two left before deciding to retire. He’s just the latest lineman to deal with an injury, as Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson have both dealt with a variety of issues the past few months, too.
