We’ve asked the Big Blue View community a few times how many games you think the New York Giants will win in 2025.
Each time, the response has been on the cautiously optimistic side, landing just north of the Over/Under set by the oddsmakers in Vegas at 5.5 games. After an 0-2 start to the season, however, Giants fans are coming around to the Vegas line.
Almost half of fans (44 percent) think the team will finish right around that 5.5 win mark. The concerning number is that 40 percent of fans believe the team will finish with four or fewer wins, up significantly from the 30 percent who believed the team would win 5 or fewer back in April.
Of course, a lot can happen over the course of a season. Last year, the New Orleans Saints looked like world-beaters to start the year. They outscored their first two opponents 91-29 before losing the next 7 straight, finishing with a 5-12 record and a -60 point differential.
The Los Angeles Rams, meanwhile, started 1-4 with losses to the Arizona Cardinals and Chicago Bears (and a -45 point differential), yet finished with a 10-7 record and their division crown.
That doesn’t mean the Giants will rebound to compete for the NFC East title, simply that the season is still young and a lot can change very quickly.
Interestingly, fan confidence has nearly doubled despite a loss that has been called “gut-wrenching” by many.
Just over half of fans being confident in the direction of the team isn’t a great mark, and is significantly reduced from the pre-season high of 92 percent. However, it still marks an incredible rebound from the doldrums following the Giants’ 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 1.
A 37-point game and one of the finest offensive performances in team history will do that.
But, as a coda to our main question this week, the Giants bought with their fans with the offense’s performance against the Cowboys will evaporate if the team can’t get in the win column.
