Starting really yesterday, your recovery day, you’re getting a flush…I think we had a great practice. I think guys were running around, we were getting to the ball, fitting up the run well. First, I must acknowledge and appreciate Russell Wilson for his vintage Russ performance against the Cowboys. That was the kind of game that propelled him toward MVP contention back in his glory days. He’s climbing significantly this week because of it, but I fear it will prove to be the anomaly, especially because it came against a Dallas defense that isn’t going to be a tough matchup in 2025. Still, beyond the gaudy numbers, I was pleased to see Wilson stop breaking the pocket if his first read wasn’t open after doing it far too often in Week 1. His patience and persistence allowed him the extra beat or two necessary to find his target on some of his most impactful throws of the day, opening up an offense that had appeared clogged.

The Giants and Cowboys scored a combined 41 points in the fourth quarter in Week 2. It was the third game in NFL history to go to overtime after each team scored at least 20 points in the fourth quarter. Sunday was the fourth time Wilson had multiple passing touchdowns of 30+ yards in the fourth quarter. No other player has done so more than twice since he entered the NFL in 2012.

Swayze Bozeman’s NFL dream has been equally exhilarating and humbling.

The longshot linebacker from his Mississippi hometown – population 1,700 – was at the top of the football world in Super Bowl LIX as an undrafted rookie with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Just seven months later, Bozeman is a New York Giant and signed to an active roster for the first time in his brief professional career. In an unforeseen twist of fate, he’s potentially one snap away from calling the defense against his former team and Patrick Mahomes in prime time Sunday night at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants came within a 64-yard field goal of beating the Cowboys, which would have been a pleasant victory, but there’s nothing in their formula or underlying play right now suggesting they’re about to go on a run. That might change once Dart gets into the lineup, but until they start winning the line of scrimmage and get through a difficult slate of early-season opponents, I’m not sure the identity of the quarterback matters much.

Since 2020, New York ranks 25th in the NFL in cash-over-cap spending, which measures the percentage a team pays over the salary cap — 5.6 percent. The squad is 28th in weighted wins (30), a metric “that gives additional weight to postseason victories.”

By subtracting the Giants’ weighted wins ranking from their cash-over-cap ranking, we get an unsatisfactory -3 bang-for-buck differential—that is tied for 20th in the league.

“Obviously, being 0-2, there’s more urgency than even last week, and I feel like we were very urgent last week,” Mahomes said. “Definitely new territory as far as being 0-2, but knowing that we got the guys for it — we have the mindset of going out there and being even better. In my eyes, it looks like what an opportunity — what an opportunity to prove who we are as the Kansas City Chiefs. Coming back from 0-2 and trying to build up to win a big football game on Sunday Night Football and try and get our season going in the right direction from there.”

The model still believes in the back-to-back-to-back AFC champions. Their 60.1% playoff odds rank sixth in the conference, which puts them squarely in the wild-card hunt.

It’s fair to believe Mahomes and company will figure out ways to overcome their issues, but the offense isn’t the Chiefs’ only problem. Kansas City’s pass rush has been mediocre, and perhaps the biggest issue facing the Chiefs going forward is their formidable remaining schedule.
