We all heard Joe Burrow being compared to Andrew Luck, even before the Cincinnati Bengals drafted Burrow out of LSU.
Then Burrow had a terrible knee injury, a calf injury, a freak wrist injury, and now a severe turf toe injury.
Whatever your position on Burrow’s play style being a contributing factor, there’s no denying he’s getting hit a lot out there.
In fact, he is, indeed, getting hit about the same amount as Luck was when he played.
As you can see in the graphic above, Burrow has been hit at about the same rate as Luck, who played six seasons. Burrow has been pressured almost the exact same amount. And, worst of all, Burrow has been sacked 27 times more.
Here’s another look at the stats, but only up to Luck’s 70th game (he played a total of 86):
Not good.
We talked to Zim Who Dey about the injury and whether Burrow needs to change his approach to the game in order to prevent future injuries.
