Raiders 2nd-year players watch: Jonah Laulu flashes again

Let’s look at how their Las Vegas Raiders 2024 rookie class fared Monday in a 20-9 loss to the visiting Los Angeles Chargers and what it means heading into Monday’s road game at the Washington Commanders:

Brock Bowers:

Bowers played 77 percent 0f the offensive snaps despite missing two days of practice with a knee issue. He played 50 percent in week one. The 13th overall pick had five catches on eight targets in both games. He has 10 receptions for 141 yards. He has 15 catches for 156 yards on 17 targets in the first two games last season. He was targeted less than eight times in just six games last season. New offensive coordinator needs to get Bowers the ball as much as possible.

Jackson Powers-Johnson:

The second-round pick was inactive after suffering a concussion in practice last week. He was replaced by veteran Alex Cappa. Las Vegas coach Pete Carroll is hopeful Powers-Johnson, who struggled in Week 1 at New England, will be able to play this week.

D.J. Glaze:

The third-round pick start at right tackle as he did as a rookie. He had a better game in Week 2 than he did in Week 1. He allowed just two pressures against the Chargers. With the offensive line struggling (left tackle Kolton Miller has been excellent, though, as a whole,) Glaze’s improved play is vital.

Decamarion Richardson:

The fourth-round pick didn’t play any defensive snaps for the second straight games and saw his special teams snaps drop from 20 to 13. Richardson played, at least, 58 snaps on defense each of the final nine games as a rookie.

Tommy Eichenberg:

The fifth-round pick from Ohio State played no snaps at linebacker in Week 2 with Elandon Roberts healthy. The fifth-round pick played 14 snaps after Roberts left the New England game with an elbow injury. Eichenberg also played 18 snaps on special teams in Week 2.

Dylan Laube:

The sixth-round pick was the No. 3 running back and played 12 snaps on offense. Had had two catches for 17 yards. He played 12 snaps on special teams and didn’t return any kicks after returning two kicks for 65 yards in Week 1.

Jonah Laulu:

Laulu, claimed last year off waivers from Indianapolis, is flashing big. He had two sacks against the Chargers and he has three this season already. He had one as a rookie. He had four tackles and played 55 percent of the snaps. Expect his playing time to only increase,
