After facing a “Super Bowl rematch” in Week 2, the Philadelphia Eagles are entering a “Divisional Round rematch” in Week 3.
The Birds will host the Los Angeles Rams at Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday. And they opened as 4.5-point home favorites for this matchup, according to FanDuel.
The snowy game between these two teams back in January was epic. There wasn’t a moment the 2024 Eagles were ever closer to being eliminated from the playoffs than when the Rams were driving for a potential game-winning touchdown. That is, before Jalen Carter shut the door on LA’s season by sacking Matthew Stafford on third down and then pressuring him into a fourth down incompletion to seal the deal.
The Rams clearly aren’t over that night. Back in July, starting Los Angeles defensive tackle Kobie Turner said “we definitely have that game circled” when asked about the Week 3 trip to Philly.
Revenge could be on the table. The Rams are off to a 2-0 start after beating the Houston Texans in Week 1 and the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. Stafford is still playing well despite missing time in training camp due to a back injury. The combination of Davante Adams and Puka Nacua figure to challenge an Eagles secondary with a big question mark named Adoree’ Jackson at CB2. The Rams’ defense has generated eight sacks through two games, which ranks tied for second-most in the NFL.
Of course, that defense really struggled to contain Saquon Barkley in two games last season (460 rushing yards, 74 receiving yards, 4 total TD). The Eagles could look to heavily rely on him once again, especially with their passing game looking like … a work in progress (to be generous).
What say you? Do you like the Eagles to not only beat the Rams but win by more than four points?
