The Miami Dolphins aim to turn around a disappointing 2024 with a playoff-bound 2025 campaign. They did not start the 2025 season well, getting blown out by the Indianapolis Colts last weekend 33-8, but one game does not make a season. The team hopes to make their Week 1 performance an exception in an otherwise strong year. And, they plan to do that with their top wide receiver on their roster.
Rumors continue to swirl that the Dolphins could be looking to trade wide receiver Tyreek Hill, unloading a big contract with a player who struggled last year but remains a dynamic threat when he is on the field. Multiple teams are said to be interested in Hill, but nothing has come from these rumors.
On Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Dolphins have not “received any calls from other teams interested” in Hill and “they currently have no plans to trade him.” The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson added the “Dolphins, trying to win, aren’t looking to trade their most accomplished player.”
Hill was not selected to the Pro Bowl in 2024, ending a career-long streak of nine straight appearances at the all-star event. He finished the year below 1,000 yards for the first time since 2019, when he was limited to just 12 games played. His 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns came just a year after he led the league in both categories, picking up 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023.
The Dolphins have undergone a semi-reset of the team this year, with several players retiring, being traded, or allowed to leave in free agency, thereby creating some salary cap space for the team. Speculation of Miami looking to shop Hill, for whom they traded before the 2022 season, has been rampant all offseason, but it continues to look like there is a lot of smoke, but no real fire.
If the season does not turn around, starting this weekend with the New England Patriots visiting the Dolphins, maybe a move to shop off Hill would become more of a possibility, but for now, it appears Miami is content with keeping their top wide receiver right where he is.
