Welcome to the New York Giants betting angle, Week 2 edition! Each week, I’m giving you my three favorite wagers for that week’s New York Giants game. My one rule: I won’t ever give you wagers that are less than -120. No gimmes!
After falling in their opener at Washington 21-6, the Giants head to Dallas for the second of two straight division road games to start the season. The Cowboys put up a good fight in their opener at the Super Bowl Champion Eagles, but they too started the season with a road loss. It’s only Week 2, but this is an important game for two teams that are hoping to improve on a disappointing 2024 season. The loser will not only be 0-2, but they’ll be 0-2 in the division.
The Cowboys have absolutely owned the Giants during the Dak Prescott era. Dak lost his first two starts against the Giants in his rookie year (2016), but is 13-0 as a starter since. Overall, Dallas has won the last eight in the series, several of them by lopsided margins. They’ve also won 15 of the last 16. The line for this week’s game is DAL -4.5, which feels suspiciously low, with a game total of 44.5.
I went 1-2 in Week 1. Sorry about that. I’m feeling good about a rebound in Week 2.
Let’s get to the picks. All lines and odds are from Fanduel and are as of Friday, September 12.
- DAL -4.5 (-120). This feels like a rat line, but I’m still buying. In the Cowboys current 8-0 winning streak against Big Blue, they’ve won each game by at least five points and they’ve won half of them by more than two touchdowns. I know this isn’t a particularly strong Dallas team as compared to some recent editions, but they’ve had an extra three days to rest and prepare, and the Giants didn’t exactly show out in week 1, and are still looking for their first TD of the season. All streaks have to end sometime, but I’m OK laying the points, even at -120.
- CeeDee Lamb OVER 6.5 receptions (-114). Lamb was his usual busy self in Week 1, with seven catches for 110 yards on a whopping 13 targets. He’s had some big games against the Giants, and especially when Prescott is healthy. The Giants don’t have a shutdown corner on their roster, and seven catches for one of the league’s most heavily targeted receivers feels relatively safe.
- Tyrone Tracy OVER 12.5 receiving yards (-114). Tracy only totaled 11 receiving yards last week on two catches, but he was targeted five times. He also played 74% of the offensive snaps and for now I think he’ll sustain that kind of usage. He isn’t a major threat catching passes out of the backfield, but I can see the Giants trying a few more designed screens this week as they look for ways to sustain drives. This is a really low number, and I’ll take it.
Those are the picks for Week 2. Good luck with your wagers!
