Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
5 thoughts on Eagles defense going into Week 2 – NBCSP
But it really wouldn’t be too early to make a switch, especially because it doesn’t seem like the Eagles were in love with the idea of starting Jackson in the first place. They would have obviously preferred if 23-year-old Kelee Ringo ran away with this job in training camp but it didn’t happen. In fact, the competition was going so poorly that the Eagles traded to bring in Jakorian Bennett, who is now the next guy up. And as long as Bennett has caught up with the playbook, why not get him on the field in Week 2? If this is where it’s heading, get there a bit earlier and see if Bennett is the answer. There should be more upside with a guy like Bennett vs. an older veteran like Jackson. It seems like the Eagles are going to end up starting a few different outside cornerbacks this year. We’ve already seen Jackson and Bennett (while Jackson was being evaluated for a concussion in Week 1), so why not see more of Bennett? And if that doesn’t work, then they can try rookie cornerback Mac McWilliams or even get Ringo back into the mix. It’s just hard to imagine that when the playoffs come around, that it’ll be Jackson out there on the field. So why not just make a switch now?
Eagles Film Review: Jordan Davis among defensive standouts from Week 1 – BGN
The opening play summed up the problems with Adoree’ Jackson this week. The Eagles moved Jihaad Campbell down to the edge and rushed five, playing three-under, three-deep coverage. Jalyx Hunt nearly got home with a strong rush, but CeeDee Lamb destroyed Jackson. Jackson had outside leverage and safety help inside, yet still gave up the sideline without competing. Losing to Lamb happens, but Jackson wasn’t even close. This wasn’t a rookie making mistakes. Jackson is a veteran. He knows that with this coverage he needs to force Lamb inside to his safety and other defenders. He just can’t give up the outside… which is exactly what he does!
Game Review – PHI 24, DAL 20 – Iggles Blitz
Adoree Jackson got lit up early on. He finished with 7 tackles because the ball kept coming his way. He played soft and then had to tackle the receiver. He did break up one pass. Jackson had an awful tackle attempt on Sanders long run.

Eagles-Chiefs preview: Five things to watch – PhillyVoice
Simmons is a rookie coming off of a torn patellar tendon. He had a couple of false starts in his rookie debut, and probably got away with a couple of easy holding calls. He also allowed four pressures, per PFF. He could eventually become a good starting LT, but it’s understandable if he’ll be a work in progress initially. At LG, the Chiefs traded Thuney to the Bears. Suamataia started at LG Week 1. He mostly played LT in 2024, and as noted above, the Chiefs benched him. He also got some work in at LG in a meaningless Week 18 game. There could be some opportunity for the Eagles to do some damage there on Sunday. Moro Ojomo could have a favorable matchup. Otherwise, the rest of the Chiefs’ line looks the same. Humphrey (C) and Smith (RG) are back, and Andy is still sticking with Taylor at RT. FeastinMeter™️: Six turkey legs.
Whether the Eagles are a model for others to follow, an anomaly or a combination remains debated within the league. “I couldn’t be their cap guy because, boy, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night, so scared that a strong wind would come by and just blow my house apart,” a cap manager from another team said. “Now, would I do what Philly does if I knew it was guaranteed to give me a ring? F— yes. I think everyone would.” Some in the NFL consider the Eagles a “house of cards” that is perpetually on the verge of collapse, but has, to the team’s credit, thrived through a combination of outstanding evaluation, solid drafting, aggressive roster management, good injury luck and, critically, owner Jeffrey Lurie’s willingness to spend. It’s this last part, the spending component, that invites a broader discussion on best practices. Should more teams push the way the forward-spending Eagles push? Led by Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman, the Eagles have consistently, more than other teams, spent more cash in the short term at the expense of future salary-cap space, getting what Roseman has called an “interest-free loan” as growing league revenues fuel massive increases in the cap each year.
NFL offensive line rankings ahead of Week 2 – PFF
1) Philadelphia Eagles. Left guard Landon Dickerson battled an injury during Philadelphia’s Week 1 win over the Cowboys, which resulted in his exit. Backup Brett Toth handled the Eagles’ final 11 offensive snaps in his place. Dickerson also earned the lowest PFF overall grade among the team’s offensive linemen (51.5). The unit had an uncharacteristic game compared to past seasons, allowing 12 pressures — including one sack — on 34 pass plays. That culminated in an 80.9 PFF pass-blocking efficiency rating, which ranked only 25th in the NFL in Week 1.
Eagles like Tank Bigsby’s “natural vision and feel” as a kickoff returner – PFT
“As I watch film across the league the last couple years he’s popped up a lot in Jacksonville in terms of those big 40-yard chunk runs,” Clay said, via a transcript from the team. “Being a running back, he has that natural vision and feel when it comes to return the ball. So very excited for anybody that we get on our roster to work with them. But again, it is more just getting him into a place. There’s a lot that happens for a guy that gets traded outside of this building, but to get him into a calm place, get him caught up with everything we want to do here and see his talents excel on Sunday.” Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo said in his own press conference that he thinks Bigsby is a “dynamic player” who can help the offense in different ways, but special teams is the likelier way for him to make his mark as long as Saquon Barkley is healthy.
Braden Mann shines in season debut | Eagles vs. Chiefs Daily Updates – PE.com
All-Pro KaVontae Turpin has proven himself as one of the most dangerous returners in the NFL, but the Eagles held him in check in the opener against the Cowboys. A big part of that was punter Braden Mann not giving him a single return opportunity on three punts, including pinning two inside the Dallas 20-yard line. Mann’s performance ranked No. 1 in punter expected points added at nearly half a point.

NFL Week 2 latest buzz, questions, news and fantasy tips – ESPN
The Chiefs are frustrated that injuries and other issues (i.e., the Rashee Rice suspension) have kept them from holding their wide receiver room together the past couple of years. They had a Xavier Worthy-heavy game plan designed for last Friday’s opener against the Chargers in Brazil, and after Worthy got injured on the game’s third play, the offense looked out of sync … because it was. The Chiefs consider former Patriots second-rounder Tyquan Thornton one of the pleasant surprises of their offseason, but the fact is, quarterback Patrick Mahomes hadn’t worked as much with him in practice as he had with Worthy. So just sending Thornton in to run Worthy’s plays didn’t work because Mahomes and Thornton didn’t have their timing down. If Worthy has to miss time, the Chiefs hope and believe that the practice time with Mahomes will have better prepared him and Thornton to deliver on those downfield shots. Hollywood Brown will continue to be a big part of the game plan, and Kansas City expects more from the run game and Isiah Pacheco, who had a great camp and should be a bigger part of the offense moving forward. Pacheco and the entire offense had a frustrating opener, but Kansas City doesn’t believe that is reflective of where it is right now as a team.
Film Review: Poor pass rush and coverage miscues doomed Chiefs in Week 1 loss – Arrowhead Pride
On Friday night, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in their season opener at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil. While Kansas City had a rough game in all three phases, Los Angeles quarterback Justin Herbert cooked the Chiefs’ defense, recording 25 completions on 34 attempts for 318 yards and three touchdowns. It was only his third career victory over Kansas City — and his passer rating of 131.7 was the second highest of his career. It was also Jim Harbaugh’s first victory over the Chiefs since becoming the Chargers’ head coach. Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s unit struggled to generate pressure against the Los Angeles offensive line — and had multiple coverage miscues, too. But the Chargers also played smart situational football.
Commanders vs Packers Tuesday Injury Report: A lot of vet rest days on a short week – Hogs Haven
Both teams released estimated injury reports for yesterday’s walkthrough and the Commanders held a light practice today. The team added five players to the injury report who had vet rest days. The only reported injury from the season opener was Tress Way who got rolled up on during a punt by Abdul Carter and he was listed as questionable to return with a back injury. Dan Quinn talked about Way’s injury, him punting today, and not having any concerns about Jayden Daniels’ newly listed right wrist injury in his pre-practice presser.
Matters around the Cowboys defense have been interesting to say the least over the last couple of weeks. 13 days ago the team dealt Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. The pass rush looked okay in the opener against the Philadelphia Eagles a week later, but more of anything is never a bad thing. [BLG Note: Clowney continues to be a villain.]
Giants paying the price for GM Joe Schoen’s draft misses – Big Blue View
he wreckage of some of the costly draft mistakes GM Joe Schoen and the New York Giants have made since 2022 was on full display in Sunday’s season-opening loss to the Washington Commanders. Evan Neal, the No. 7 overall pick by Schoen in 2022, was inactive. That’s an indication the Giants don’t think he is transitioning well to guard after flopping at right tackle. Jalin Hyatt, a player the Giants traded up for in Round 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft, did not play a snap. This after a season in which he caught just eight passes. Deonte Banks whom Schoen traded up one spot to make sure he was able to select in Round 1 of the 2023 draft, played only 11 snaps and did not get on the stat sheet. Even Darius Alexander, third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, was inactive. The Giants preferred to elevate defensive lineman Elijah Garcia rather than give Alexander a uniform. Alexander had a quiet summer after missing spring practices, so perhaps he just needs time.
3 NFL coaches on hot seat after Week 1, and 3 getting warmer – SB Nation
Brian Daboll, New York Giants. Brian Daboll on Monday committed to Russell Wilson as the starter for the New York Giants here in Week 2. How much longer will that be the case? Wilson was largely ineffective in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders, completing 17-of-37 passes for 168 yards and a QBR of 25.5. While he was only sacked twice, Wilson was under pressure early and often, as the offensive line struggled to protect him with left tackle Andrew Thomas sidelined with a foot injury. That pressure played a role in Wilson’s woes, as he looked skittish in the pocket on several key plays in the second half. Daboll does have a rookie quarterback card to play, with Jaxson Dart waiting in the wings. But he also has to balance getting Dart into the lineup with a brutal schedule. This week, the Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys on the road, followed by games against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.
