Center Will Putnam was a surprise addition to the Las Vegas Raiders’ 53-man roster.
Let’s take a closer look at Putnam:
Size:
6-4, 301 pounds.
NFL experience:|
This is his first time on a 53-man roster. Putnam was on the Raiders’ practice squad all of last season after signing as an undrafted free agent.
College:
Putnam went to Clemson where he was a third-team All-ACC performer as a junior and senior.
How he will fit in with Raiders:
Putnam, 25, will be Las Vegas’ backup center behind Jordan Meredith. If Meredith were to get injured the Raiders can either elevate Putnam to a starter or move guard Jackson Powers-Johnson over to center. At the very least, Putnam will continue to develop in practice and will play on special teams. It’s difficult for holdover practice squad players to impress a new regime enough to make the 53-man roster for a first time. But Putnam pulled it off. Clearly, the new regime is impressed by him.
