The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers have declared their injury designations ahead of their Week 1 matchup on Sunday afternoon, and the Lions will be without three of their reserves.
Let’s take a look at Friday’s injury report and get you up to date with what we know.

Ruled OUT
- RB Sione Vaki (hamstring)
- OT Jamarco Jones (ankle)
- LB Trevor Nowaske (elbow)
Vaki’s hamstring has been lingering for a month now, and after a few attempts to bring him back, they’ve been unsuccessful at each attempt. At this stage, they appear to be attempting to allow his hamstring time to heal, and are willing to allow him to sit out in order for that to happen.
Jones was a midweek addition to the injury report, and as is typically the case with most midweek injuries, he won’t recover in time to play in this game. Making things even more unfortunate is the fact that practice squader Dan Skipper has also been unable to practice (practice squad players do not appear on the team injury report), which likely means he may not be available for elevation. That means Giovanni Manu could be in line for OT3 duties for the Packers game.
Nowaske was a bit of a surprise addition to the injury report this week, as he did not appear to suffer an injury during training camp. What isn’t a surprise is that, after not practicing all week, he has been ruled out for this game. With the Lions typically keeping six linebackers active on game days, practice squader Anthony Pittman could be in line for a roster elevation.

- G Kayode Awosika (shoulder)
TeSlaa missed a practice earlier in the week due to an illness, but has been able to get back on the practice field for the majority of practices. With no designation, he’ll be expected to make his NFL debut Sunday.
Awosika was estimated to have been limited on Wednesday, but after back-to-back full practices, he doesn’t carry an injury designation into this game and is good to go in his reserve interior offensive linemen role.
Note: Taylor Decker also did not practice on Friday, but it was a scheduled rest day for him. He does not have an injury designation.
