Many Bengals fans, myself included, are nervous about the safety position entering the season.
Geno Stone has been injured for much of the preseason. Jordan Battle will be entering his first full season as the starter opposite him to begin the year.
Behind those two starters are Tycen Anderson and PJ Jules. Both players are good depth, but also unproven as starters in the NFL, while Daijahn Anthony sits on IR and is also a big unknown at this stage of his career.
One player who could garner some interest at the position is Jabrill Peppers, who was released by the Patriots on Friday.
Peppers is now 29 years old, but still has been playing at a high level. He was the sixth-highest graded safety at PFF in 2024. He had a 74.7 run defense grade and an 81.7 coverage grade. He has logged extensive playing time at both safety spots and can also play the slot.
According to Over The Cap, the Bengals have around $16 million in cap space, and while we have yet to see what Dalton Risner will make, it will likely be for just a few million dollars at most.
Do you think the Bengals should be interested in bringing in Jabrill Peppers at safety?
