Week 3 Thursday Night Football Odds: Patriots vs. Jets
Another consecutive AFC East showdown as this time the Patriots play host to the New York Jets
By
And we are off for week 3, as the New England Patriots (+ 220) host the New York Jets (- 270) in Gillette Stadium up in Foxborough. The visiting team opens up as 6.5-point favourites with the O/U for total points currently at 38.5, one of the lowests of the week.
The Pats lost in overtime against the Seattle Seahawks, as they were really close to achieving a quite surprising 2-0 record under new head coach Jerod Mayo. Their defense is as usual really well coached and with no evident flaws, while their offense is serviceable enough to the point where they can make pretty much any game competitive. This is a fun team to watch, and will be even more entertaining once they start playing Drake Maye.
The Jets won their first game with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, beating the Titans 24-17. They enjoyed playing against Will Levis and his ridiculous weekly turnovers, and their running backs carried most of the load on offense combining for three touchdowns.
Even though home field advantage is usually very important for the Patriots, and they are a tough out in Foxborough, the quarterback matchup is just too imbalanced with Jacoby Brissett going against Aaron Rodgers. I go with the Jets on this one though I suspect it will be closer than many people expect.
