Let’s check in on the Philadelphia Eagles’ division rivals for a second, shall we?
The Terry McLaurin contract dispute is now over.
After previously expressing discontent and staging a ‘hold in’ while requesting a new deal, the Washington Commanders reportedly signed their top wide receiver to a three-year, $96 million extension.
While the exact structure of McLaurin’s deal has yet to be revealed, the $32 million annual value makes him tied for the sixth-highest paid player at his position on a yearly basis.
The player he’s tied with?
A.J. Brown.
Commanders fans have reason to be happy that the McLaurin situation has been resolved. Ensuring that Jayden Daniels’ top weapon will be on the field this season and beyond is important for Washington.
But Eagles fans should also feel good about their team having a superior player entering his age 28 season (Brown) signed at the same cost of a lesser player entering his age 30 season (McLaurin). They should also feel good about the relative bargain that is Smith’s contract.
McLaurin has undoubtedly been a thorn in the Eagles’ side in the past. Of course, that was before Quinyon Mitchell arrived in Philly. Now the Commanders are paying A.J. Brown money to McLaurin just to watch him get locked down by Q.
Meanwhile, in Dallas …
Still no end in sight when it comes to the Micah Parsons contract dispute.
He’s yet to back off from his statement where he said: “I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.”
The Cowboys will travel to Philly to play the Eagles on Thursday, September 4.
