The Cincinnati Bengals wrapped up their preseason on Saturday afternoon with their annual game that doesn’t count against the Colts. The game was played to completion, but it was what happened after the last fans left Paycor Stadium that was probably the most entertaining, at least for Bengals fans.
That’s because two men were arrested after they allegedly broke into Paycor Stadium in an attempt to steal a BBQ smoker, according to WKRC.
The two men, identified as Alex Winegeart and Kaleb Truong, were arrested Sunday morning. Truong was caught on security cameras hopping over a fence and attempting to steal the smoker. When confronted by police, he fled into the stadium and was caught by a K9 unit.
According to WKRC, Winegeart was also arrested for attempting to break into Paycor Stadium at the same time, but there is “no explicit connection” between the two men other than both being arrested at the same place and time.
Was this a foiled part of some larger plan launched by a rival team’s fan base, in order to gain some upper hand in the season by sabotaging the Bengals’ ability to feed their fans with delicious smoked meats? It’s much more likely that these two guys are just a couple of BBQ lovers who decided it would be easier to steal a heavy smoker from a locked stadium than get one literally anywhere else.
The two men are due to face a judge on Monday morning, and both were charged with breaking and entering.
