Three Keys
1) No injuries – Again, there is absolutely nothing more important than this. The Vikings had a couple of season-enders in last week’s game, so let’s hope we can avoid that today.
2) QB3 Battle – Sam Howell will get the start at quarterback this afternoon, with J.J. McCarthy being put on ice until the Vikings get to Chicago for Week 1 of the regular season. The real intrigue is at the #3 spot on the quarterback depth chart, as Brett Rypien and Max Brosmer are fighting it out for the last spot. Brosmer was very impressive on Saturday, and with Howell getting the start, both of them should get more opportunities later on in today’s game. Who will take advantage?
3) Punting change? – Ryan Wright has been the punter for the Vikings over the last few seasons, but he’s now facing a serious challenge from International Player Program member Oscar Chapman. Chapman had a punt last week that was fumbled by a Houston Returner and got distance comparable to Wright on his boots. Can he take the job this week or next week?

Like last week, we’ll have an Open Thread for each half of this one, so once we get to halftime keep an eye out for the new thread and move things along accordingly.
Here’s hoping that we can have a clean, solid game of football and spend the next few days talking about it before we get to the preseason finale in Tennessee on Friday. Thank you for joining us, folks!
