The Bengals’ biggest questions heading into training camp were in the pass rush and in the pass protection.
Friday at practice, one of those seemed much better than the other one, as the pass rush seemed to be absolutely dominating the Bengals’ offensive line. Shemar Stewart and Kris Jenkins were both dominating upfront, which is hopefully a good sign for the pass rush, but it is also a bad sign for the offensive line.
While speaking about the pass rush, Trey Hendrickson is still out there just helping coach the young defenders with no deal in sight.
All was not dark for the offense, though. Even as the pass rush was terrorizing Burrow, the wide receivers were still making plays, including a great catch by Andrei Iosivas, which could point to even more year 3 improvements for him. The vets, of course, aren’t ones to be shown up, so Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase also got impressive touchdown catches from Joe Burrow.
On the rehab field were Jermaine Burton and Mike Gesicki, so the offensive firepower wasn’t even all out there. Although there is no fix for the guard position coming from the rehab field, it could be time for the Bengals to look outside the current roster for a solution there.
