’Take my game to a level it’s never been’: Brian Burns showed Jets what that looks like | The Record
“I mean, obviously, he’s a freak athlete on the field. He shows that every day. A lot of guys with that type of talent, some of them might pick and choose when they’re gonna show it, and he never does that,” said inside linebacker Micah McFadden. “Even when the coaches and the strength staff says, ‘OK, we’ve got to decrease the workload because Burns is going too hard,’ you don’t hear that often about one of your star athletes. He brings that type of energy every day. He’s not the leader who’s looking to get up in your face every single time if you do something wrong. But when there’s something that needs to be said, he’s one of the persons who will step up and say it.”
Russell Wilson threads the needle to Wan’Dale Robinson

There is some concern that Nabers’ practice absence could negatively impact his chemistry with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, but the 10-time Pro Bowler dismissed that notion.
“Malik and I have gotten a lot of time together. I trust his work ethic, his ability to get open. Obviously, I’ve spent a lot of time with him, throwing the football. When he is out there and when he has been, we’ve been lights out on everything that we’ve done. I think he’s been special for us,” Wilson said.
How did Week 1 of the NFL preseason impact starting QB battles? | CBSSports.com
If it were up to me, I would let this competition play out while knowing Wilson is probably the favorite to win the job. You have to wonder how long his leash is, though. Jaxson Dart played well in his first preseason action. In fact, he was the Giants’ best quarterback on Saturday. The Ole Miss product completed 12 of 19 passes for 154 yards and one touchdown and also led the Giants in rushing with 24 yards on three carries. Dart has a capable arm and is mobile, but can he read NFL defenses and throw with the anticipation needed at this level? That remains to be seen. If Wilson is benched, I bet Dart is chosen to replace him. But according to the Giants, this is Wilson’s job barring injury.
Things got chippy in practice

Biggest X factor: Left tackle Andrew Thomas. We’ve seen it the past two seasons — the Giants without Thomas are in trouble, having gone 3-14 without him. Thomas is currently on the physically unable to perform list after Lisfranc surgery on his foot last year. Fortunately for the Giants, he’s on pace to return for their Week 1 game at Washington, according to a league source. New York also has more depth on its offensive line this season.

New York Giants: Over 5.5 wins
Picking the Giants as an over here isn’t a case of getting swept up in the Jaxson Dart hype, but more an appreciation for the fact this team has better talent than it’s shown in recent years.
There’s an outside chance the G-Men boast one of the league’s most dangerous edge rushing packages with Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, and the option to spell in Kayvon Thibodeaux. That alone is a wrecking ball of a unit, with the potential to change games. The team also has a really solid stable of good-enough quarterbacks with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston ahead of Dart on the depth chart — both of whom can generate offense out of Malik Nabers. I don’t think the Giants will be vastly better than a five win team, but I do see them being a six or seven win team this season. That would beat the over on this one.

2025 NFL betting preview: Three picks for each team you need to consider | ESPN.com
• Giants UNDER 5.5 wins (-135)
• Abdul Carter to win Defensive Rookie of the Year (+250)
• Week 1 Giants +7 (-120) at Commanders
The Giants hope to be competitive in 2025, but wow does that schedule look brutal. I can’t find a game where they will definitely be favored at kickoff. Week 5 at New Orleans, maybe? But that game is on the road, and they’re only 1.5-point favorites as of now (the only game they’re favored in before the season begins)…I think No. 3 pick Abdul Carter and that defensive line are going to be awesome, but I have little faith that Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston or Jaxson Dart can lead the Giants to a bunch of upsets. At least Winston would be fun for fantasy managers rostering Malik Nabers.
