The Linc – Moro Ojomo is looking ready to replace the Milton Williams role

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 7/29/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

How overlooked Eagles player went from being a ‘little pest’ to team’s next potential star – NJ.com
“He works just as hard as anybody on this team and puts a lot of effort in. Not just in the weight room, but just on the field he puts in a lot of time,” Eagles center Cam Jurgens said. “He was kind of like a little pest to deal with his first year here. He just worked and played so hard, and now he’s got a lot of those tools. He’s a lot stronger than he was. Just talking to Fletch (Fletcher Cox) and BG (Brandon Graham) and learning from them guys, like all those tips and tricks. I mean, he’s tough to go against now. Really tough.”

Eagles Training Camp Practice Notes: Quinyon Mitchell looks really good entering Year 2 – BGN
Moro Ojomo continues to generate pressure on a daily basis. That might be concerning as it relates to him going up against Tyler Steen. But Ojomo has also been lined up against Landon Dickerson’s side at times.

Practice Roundup – Day 4 – Iggles Blitz
I love the fact that Ojomo is winning in individual drills and team drills. He’s also beating multiple blockers. This isn’t a case of him beating the same guy over and over. Ojomo is off to a great start this summer. Fran Duffy had very good things to say about backup DTs Thomas Booker and Gabe Hall. It feels like Booker won’t just win a roster spot, but could be a valuable role player. Hall was on the practice squad last year. He flashed big talent at Baylor, but was too inconsistent. Fran said Hall is using his hands much better this year and is playing stronger. Rookie Ty Robinson caught Jimmy Bama’s eye.

Eagles training camp report, Day 4: Quinyon Mitchell’s standout summer continues with interception, CB2 intrigue – PHLY
MORE OJOMO: Another day with pressure from Moro Ojomo. Again, this might say something about Tyler Steen, but I think it speaks more to Ojomo. He had a would-be sack against Hurts and has shown his ability to penetrate the line of scrimmage throughout the first week of practice. Get used to seeing it this season. “That’s the way the Eagles have gone: (Javon) Hargrave was gone, Milt (Williams) stepped into that. Milt is gone, now I’m getting an opportunity,” Ojomo said.

Titans cut A.J. Brown’s replacement to cement horrible NFL trade with Eagles – SB Nation
The Treylon Burks Era has come to a close in Tennessee. The Titans waived the wide receiver with an injury designation on Monday, just days after suffering a fractured collarbone during Tennessee’s training camp. This latest injury came as Burks was working his way back from an ACL injury that required a surgical repair last season, costing the wide receiver the final 12 games of his 2024 season. This designation also closes the books on the deal the Titans made to acquire Burks during the 2022 NFL Draft. Let’s take a moment to revisit that trade between the Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Titans waive Treylon Burks – Music City Miracles
The Tennessee Titans waived/injured WR Treylon Burks today. It is a tough ending for the former first round pick. Burks was only able to play in 27 games in his three years in Tennessee. He caught just one touchdown pass. This move doesn’t really change anything for the 2025 Titans. There is no shot they were counting on him to be a big part of the offense this year – even though he came into camp “in the best shape of his life.”

Each NFL team’s biggest challenge: Will Bengals play defense in ‘25? Did Chiefs, Texans fix offensive line? – NFL.com
Biggest challenge: Acclimating new faces on defense. The Eagles lost some valuable veterans on that side of the football after stomping the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. They said goodbye to two edge rushers in Josh Sweat (signed with the Cardinals) and Brandon Graham (retired), an underrated interior D-lineman in Milton Williams (Patriots) and two playmakers in the secondary in cornerback Darius Slay Jr. (Steelers) and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson (traded to Texans). As is usually the case, Philadelphia has been grooming players to move into all these positions, but change isn’t always easy. The edge-rusher situation is particularly interesting to watch, as third-year pro Nolan Smith is the only player in that group without major questions attached to him. That said, these are the Eagles. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will make it all work.

Spadaro: What does Cam Jurgens bring to the table that can’t be measured? – PE.com
“It just felt impossible physically all week for most of the playoffs,” Jurgens said on Monday, drenched in sweat as he continues to work his way to full health following surgery that happened immediately after winning the Super Bowl. “You’ve just got to mentally will yourself to say you’re good and keep going and press on and get through it. It helps when you’re going through it and everybody else is dealing with stuff and you’ve got to be there for the guys. That’s just the name of the game.” That’s just the way it works for this offensive line. They are there for each other. Nobody wants to be the weak link. They feel a responsibility to each other, to the team, to Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach Jeff Stoutland, a “relentless” coach – Jurgens’ word – and to the idea of carrying the offense collectively on its shoulders.

A look at the Hall of Fame chances of 12 former and current Eagles stars – NBCSP
Jason Peters: Now that Peters has finally retired, we know his first year of eligibility will be 2029, the same year as former teammates Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox. Peters is as close to a lock as anybody on this list other than Kelce. His nine Pro Bowls are 6th-most all-time by an offensive tackle, and every eligible offensive tackle with nine is already in the Hall (with the exception of Jim Tyrer for non-football reasons). J.P. is one of the most remarkable stories in NFL history. An undrafted tight end becomes the most dominating left tackle of his generation. No undrafted player in history at any position has made more Pro Bowls. And that torn Achilles in 2012 cost him a year in his prime. He hung around a while – seven years after his last Pro Bowl. He wasn’t the same but he was still good, and that shouldn’t hurt him. Roob’s prediction: A no-brainer. Peters is an all-timer, and the Eagles got him from the Bills for 1st-, 4th- and 6th-round picks.

News: Browns QB competition gets its first QB1 following Kenny Pickett’s injury – Dawgs By Nature
And then there were three*. When it comes to the Cleveland Browns quarterback competition, very few know really what the team’s overall goal is but having four QBs compete for the starting job is beyond rare at the NFL level. Saturday’s practice took Kenny Pickett out of the equation, *at least for a little while, just as Shedeur Sanders was having his best (of four) practice. With Pickett sidelined, many are hoping that Dillon Gabriel and Sanders, the two rookies, will get a bigger chance to prove what they have. While that might happen, Joe Flacco will get the majority of the first team reps in Week 2 of Browns training camp, according to HC Kevin Stefanski.

Report: LB Alex Singleton sidelined for 7 to 8 days with a broken thumb – Mile High Report
According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, starting linebacker Alex Singleton will be sidelined for 7 to 8 days due to a broken thumb. He is going to have surgery to repair his thumb, but after a week, he will be able to “club it up” and return to practice ahead of the Broncos’ preseason opener.

All aTwitter: 29 July 2025 – Broncos WR Courtland Sutton is making Terry McLaurin’s hold-in more difficult – Hogs Haven
“Adam Schefter says that he thinks #Commanders WR Terry McLaurin wants “considerably more” than DK Metcalf ($33M APY). WOW.”

Commanders put OL Nate Herbig on reserve/retired list – PFT
Veteran offensive lineman Nate Herbig is walking away from football. Herbig signed with the Commanders this offseason, but the team announced on Tuesday morning that he has been placed on the team’s reserve/retired list. He will no longer count against the team’s 90-man roster limit. [BLG Note: Herbig only turned 27 earlier this month. He originally signed with the Eagles as a rookie free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft.]

[UPDATE]: MRI shows Tyler Guyton’s ACL intact, he has bone fracture (out 4-6 weeks) and NOT a torn ACL – Blogging The Boys
The original version of this story is below the break. We had to jump in front of it due to an unusual twist of positive fortune. You will see below that NFL Network reported that Tyler Guyton was “feared” to have suffered a torn ACL during Monday’s practice. Thankfully, this is not the case. ESPN’s Todd Archer noted that Guyton’s MRI results (which the “feared” word noted was the case ahead of) showed things intact in that sense and that the injury here is a bone fracture that will sideline Guyton 4-6 weeks. It goes without saying that this is an incredible turn based on where things were with Tyler Guyton for about 30 minutes. Hope seemed a bit lost for the Cowboys season already and now we are talking about a situation where he may only miss a couple of regular season games. Obviously the severity of that is still to be determined. This almost never happens. We caught a bit of good luck.

Brian Burns: ‘Nothing to talk about’ until Giants play in games that count – Big Blue View
Everyone is excited about the Giants’ defense, but the defensive front is expected to be one of the very best in the NFL — perhaps even the best. “Man, everybody feels encouraged and excited and hyped up at the beginning of the season. You understand?” Burns said. “At the same time, we look great on paper but we (didn’t) do (anything) yet. It’s all on us. We can take this as far as we want to go. Everything looks good with the names that we have and the potential and this and that, but until we put that (stuff) to stamp, (there isn’t) really nothing to talk about.” Burns is right to say that the Giants haven’t actually done anything yet. But the players are very impressive on paper. He made a point of calling out fellow starter Kayvon Thibodeaux, saying he “flipped a switch” last year.

Another strange turn in Christian Wilkins’ release – Silver And Black Pride
A strange new development was reported in in the case of the Las Vegas Vegas Raiders’ surprise release of standout defensive tackle Christian Wilkins four days ago. In the aftermath of the stunning news, there were multiple reports that stated Wilkins was involved in some sort of incident with a teammate that may have contributed to the Raiders’ decision to walk away from in addition to his disagreement over his recovery from an injured foot. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that the incident was that Wilkins “playfully” tried to kiss an unknown teammate on the head in a team meeting room and the player was offended by it and it was reported to the team’s human resources department according to Schefter. Schefter also reported that that incident wasn’t the only reason Wilkins was released.
