Should Giants fans be panicking, or have patience with their team?
It’s safe to say that the New York Giants 2024 season has gotten off on about the worst foot possible.
The Giants are one of nine winless teams heading into Week 3, and they got there in a particularly ugly fashion, finding ways to lose games they could (or should) have won. And to put that in some perspective, only two of the 32 teams that have started 0-2 since the playoffs expanded in 2020 have made the playoffs. In other words, the Giants have just a 6.25% chance of making the playoffs based on recent history.
Most fans, and the entirety of the Big Blue View staff were expecting (hoping?) for a 2-0 start to the season. It’s a reasonable expectation with games against the Sam Darnold lead Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Commanders at the very start of a true rebuild. Even a 1-1 start with a win and a competitive loss would have been acceptable and not a surprise.
Few were expecting the Giants to start 0-2 and to look largely hapless in both games. And now the Giants are now heading into a tough 6-week stretch of games. Over the next six weeks, the Giants will face the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys (TNF), Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals (SNF), Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers (MNF).
Once they get through that gauntlet, they get see the Commanders again and then the Carolina Panthers in Munich before their bye week. But by that time it may be too late to save the season.
So now we want to know: Is it time to panic, or should fans have patience?
I’d also ask that people (respectfully, please) expand in the comments on their choice as to why they’re panicking or being patient with the team.
