The Colts were busy on Tuesday, as the team reshuffled some of their roster depth in the wake of placing star defensive tackle DeForest Buckner on injured reserve.

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday that after placing starting defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (ankle) on injured reserve, the team signed defensive end Genard Avery from their practice squad to help reinforce their defensive line depth.

The team also announced that it signed defensive tackle Adam Gotsis, cornerback Gregory Junior, and defensive end Titus Leo to the team’s practice squad, while waiving defensive tackle McTelvin Agim and cornerback Ameer Speed in corresponding roster moves.

Leo was a former 2023 6th round pick of the Colts, who was recently released last week. He spent last season on the team’s injured reserve and this year’s training camp and preseason with the Colts—but was among their final 53-man roster cuts before being re-signed to their taxi-man squad.

Meanwhile, Avery spent last season on injured reserve for Indianapolis. The 6-year veteran has 106 tackles (65 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, 5 passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery during 62 career games (17 starts).

Avery earned a +64.4 overall grade through two preseason games with the Colts this year, which included a sack, a QB hit, and a +74.4 pass rushing grade. He’s not a 3T like Buckner, but should provide a rotational edge.

He was actually promoted last week for game day, but ended up being a healthy inactive.
