Executives, coaches, and scouts had high praise for the Bengals star.
Ja’Marr Chase had a career year last year.
As a result, NFL executives, coaches, and scouts have decided he is the best receiver in the entire league.
In a recent survey by ESPN, league insiders were asked to rank the top 10 players at 11 positions. Chase came in first while his teammate Tee Higgins was an honorable mention.
In the article, Jeremy Fowler wrote that Chase received around 70% of the first place votes after securing just the fifth triple crown of the Super Bowl era.
Fowler quoted “a high-ranking NFL personnel executive” as saying:
“Honestly, it comes down to Chase is a b— to cover… We are super aware of him and have played him a bunch and been torched by him a bunch.”
The best part? Fowler mentioned that the Bengals think Chase will only get better thanks to “improvements in defensive scheme recognition, attack plans based on coverages and creative route running with different speeds or stems.”
Higgins, meanwhile, finished an honorable mention with one scouting director saying: “I think he would be a 100-catch guy somewhere else. He’s really good. Only thing he doesn’t have is top-end speed.”
Not like Bengals fans didn’t know any of this, but it is nice to get some positive affirmation from the rest of the NFL.
If both Chase and Higgins stay healthy, they should continue to put up big numbers with quarterback Joe Burrow. Re-live some of the best moments from the passing game from last year in the video below.
