The defensive line is particularly interesting for several reasons.
With training camp approaching fast, it’s time to discuss which position group is the most worrisome for the 2025 Cincinnati Bengals.
On paper, the offensive guard spots somehow look as bad, if not worse, than they did last season when it was arguably the worst group of guards in the entire NFL. A journeyman Lucas Patrick and third-round rookie Dylan Fairchild are the favorites to start, which is damn near criminal when trying to protect a franchise QB like Joe Burrow.
The cornerback group is another area of concern, though some of that unease is alleviated if Cam Taylor-Britt returns to his pre-2024 form while Dax Hill and/or DJ Turner continue to ascend.
Defensive end is clearly the wild card in this debate. If the Bengals can get Trey Hendrickson extended and Shemar Stewart under contract, this position group won’t be a contender for the worst group on the roster.
However, if Hendrickson holds out into the regular season, then it gets real dicey. And if Stewart, for whatever reason, is also not on the field, then there’s a real case for this being the weakest position group.
