A positive update on Shemar Stewart working out ‘at’ Texas A&M

A positive update on Shemar Stewart working out ‘at’ Texas A&M

It could be something pretty normal.

On Tuesday, a report came out that Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Shemar Stewart was working out with the Texas A&M football team and could potentially petition for another year of college eligibility amid his contract dispute with the team.

Kelsey Conway, however, reported that Stewart has been working out at the Texas A&M facility by himself, not with the team.

Conway also noted that Stewart is preparing for the upcoming NFL season, so for now, a return to college does not appear to be in play.

The Enquirer can confirm through a source close to Stewart that while the No. 17 overall pick is in fact working out at Texas A&M’s facilities, he’s not working out with the team. His workouts are individual and he’s working out to prepare for the upcoming NFL season.

Players returning to their colleges to train isn’t really out of the ordinary, especially with no team activities currently taking place in Cincinnati. If that is the case with Stewart, this is really much ado about nothing.

However, with training camp just eight days away, the conflicting reports did spark more debate about the situation both sides find themselves in.

Stewart needs NFL reps, there’s no way around that. Every time he doesn’t participate in team practices, it sets him back more and more, and until one side decides to compromise with the other, this very well may bleed over into the July 23rd start date for training camp.
