Run, Achane, Run
The Miami Dolphins looked overmatched on Thursday Night, losing to the Buffalo Bills, 31-10, in a critical AFC East matchup.
Miami lost quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the foreseeable future, and left tackle Terron Armstead also left with an injury in that game. Many other things went wrong for Mike McDaniel’s team, but the lone bright spot and the player that continues to look the most impressive (IMO) — through the first two games of the season — is second-year running back De’Von Achane.
In Week One, Achane carried the ball ten times for 24 yards and a score. He followed that up with seven receptions on seven targets for 76 yards. Best of all, the Dolphins defeated the Jags, 20-17, in a thrilling come-from-behind victory.
That was just the beginning of Achane’s dominance as Miami’s de-facto RB1.
With Raheem Mostert officially out for Thursday Night Football, the Dolphins’ second-year running back set a career-high in carries with 22 and followed up his 96 yards on the ground with another seven receptions through the air for 69 yards (#Nice) and a touchdown.

Achane’s impressive start to his NFL career has landed him in the Dolphins’ all-time record books alongside some of the franchise’s top players.
His 13 touchdowns, for example, are the most through 13 games since at least 1970. His 920 career rushing yards are also the most by a Dolphins player through the first 13 games of the season. In fact, only Erick Dickerson (20), Marcus Allen (16), and Fred Taylor (15) had more through their first 13 NFL games, according to the Miami Dolphins official website.
Achane is a true anomaly; a unicorn! One of which can change the game, both through the air and on the ground. But don’t take my word for it — see for yourself! Here’s a look at every De’Von Achane touch vs. the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. #GoFins
